Y’all got your ”sovereignty” first

The naira was about to take over and dominate. What happened?

Y’all think it was a business opportunity when we got thrown in the ships??
They basically sayingwhite people are superior
And they "helped" us out
We didn't even have our own country

I've just seen mad comments directed at me, but none @ing me..:mjlol:

Again, I don't really believe AfrAms got some head start. I just threw the same line of thinking you brehs do all the time. In this thread you have people saying all sorts; only successful Africans come to America, to Africans can't fix their own countries, to Africans are fleeing their countries, to Africans are white supremacist beneficiaries (the unmitgated gall and irony of it :mjlol:).

The moment you throw that same type of energy their way, then nikkas want to start crying. The nerve. White folks have really taught y'all well. You've become really skilled at these microagressions.

As someone who has both experiences, I can tell you the discord between both groups (and both sides are to blame).

AfrAms whether justified or not feel that Africans who come to the US look down on them because they think they demean them by not respecting their values or culture or in some respects don't believe they exist at all.

Africans tend to preach some brand of African exceptionalism based on perceived educational attaintment and cultural values which further forms a wedge between the two groups.

African-Americans (and maybe it's changed now) used to distance themselves from anything Africa-related because of negative connotations. Actually this is very prevalent across the Americas in general, but less pronounced among African-Americans.

AfrAms are confused by the lack of embrace from Africans despite both groups being what you would term black, which makes my last paragraph more ironic.

African-Americans just want to be respected because they feel like they are treated as 2nd class citizens despite being in America for hundreds of years and having had significant contributions both culturally and socially to America.

The confusion is more pronounced because they don't understand why Africans don't respect that.

This is where the schism gets bigger. The problem is that a lot of Afram brothers and sisters feel entitled and that the red carpet should be rolled out by Africans because "we just got here". They see Africans succeeding in the US and feel that we must be benefiting from white people somehow. Lastly, there is a hidden resentment because many of us still have an attachment to our countries of origin and haven't fully embraced American societies. That's why you see comments like "foreign flag wavers".

This is the reality of what's going on. Generally we go about our days not thinking about these things, because as a society, we tend to just get on with things. However there is a subcluture, which is mainly online for now that may become very real in the future. However, this will only hurt both groups as they fight each other and lose focus on the real problem - white supremacy.

The solution for all this angst is open dialogue. Even on a forum like theColi which is supposed to be a safe space for black people, we can't even discuss these issues in a composed manner. A medium that tackles these issues in a public space would be great.

Salty over a Nigerian? U sandle, no sock, wearing, ashy foot ass nkka. Kill yourself. :mjlol:

I never met a Nigerian, I personally admired. I respect the dedication to education, tho. Outside that...you nkkas don't get no nevermind. Your fam back home, still rockin my old STARTER jacket from 4th grade, 94', and Buffalo Bills, championship tees. You love our old rags. Pay homage "brotha".:umad:
Comment like this shows how y’all have the same low and hateful views of Africans that you claim they have for y’all.

If another poster had said all that about a black American y’all won’t like it.

And it is silly to ignore the interference other countries, especially the US, had on African countries.

Not too far from me so imma check it out. Hopefully to gain an understanding of the culture :ehh:
Literally the only person making sense. When I went to college, they opened an Ethiopian Cultural Center near the campus. They went around and invited the BSU on campus to come check it out. That’s what should be happening, not this divide and conquer BS. :snoop:

Yall always have many excuses and expect empathy when you don't extend the same courtesy to black Americans. Ya''ll are the OVERWHELMING majority in a black nation with natural resources, but yall still allow foreign minorities to deebo yall on your own land when yall have the home court advance. And yet you expect black Americans to not struggle, despite being in the belly of the white oppressive system while being in a white majority country. Ya'll really don't understand sacrifice and hard work. There's been 400 years plus continuous fight for black American's rights where Nigerians and other minorities are able to enjoy without putting in ANY work. Most sensible black americans aren't expecting yall to kiss our ring but we don't want yall to cozy up with the white power structure and be used as pawns to attack us. Which many are yall's so eager to do.
