There are 400K Nigerian Americans vs roughly 40M Black Americans. We have the full socioeconomic distribution of black Americans because 99% of the Black Americans in the world LIVES in the US. Whereas 99% of Nigerians on the global live in Nigeria and the only ones who are able to make it over are the ones with social capital, wealth, and skills. So you compare this small group to the average black American and not a similarly educated Black American counterpart. Every black Billionaire in the US is FBA, the Largest black-owned companies are FBA, the Largest Black real estate developers are FBA., the best black athletes and cultural creators are FBA. Most black kids in NYU are African American. Now take a trip to NYU dentistry school and most of the kids in there are African.

You've had a head start of hundreds of years on black immigrant groups. Plus like you said, you are a community of 40m strong. There is supposed to be wealth in the community.

One thing that needs to be dispelled is that only highly skilled Nigerians are the ones who emigrated to America. People left for socioeconomic reasons. The political class are still there controlling the country's resources.

Also Nigerians are successful outside of the US too. If the politicians wouldn't run down the country, there wouldn't even be a need to emigrate.
