I think so too. I'm a little confused on it. So Currensy tweeted that he recorded the whole tjing on January 4th, but back when he was streaming the recording, he said he recorded 5 songs in one night. So I think it'll either be a 5 song EP, or they could add a lot to it, because I used to think that CC sequel was gonna drop in 2013 when they both tweeted that they recorded like 6 or 7 new joints. So they could always add to it. Maybe they'll hang onto this new project and add a couple features. Gibbs and Currensy sound real good together that's for sure.

Yeah man trust before January 4th they had enough songs to make a full project follow up.

The funny thing is depending on how the 5 songs were done, if he did hooks and verses, then a 5 song EP could be about the same length as Covert Coup. If you take off The Type, Covert Coup is basically a 20 minute run time. Covert Coup is really an EP even though it has 10 songs. Illmatic is less than 40 mins and some people call it an EP. CC has the same amount of songs and is less than 30 mins.

The decision for this project might not even be made yet. They could be kicking around releasing the 5 they just did or adding some more and releasing that. If I had to guess, unless we get it within the next few days, I think it will be more than 5 songs. The hype just based on a few tweets has already got a lot of traction and they have the material to use. Or, another option is releasing this as an EP and doing a full Covert Coup sequel later.

See Currensy is a rapper that I like in smaller doses, so I really liked the format the first time around. But I'd never complain about joints like Double 07, Smoke Break, or Success is My Cologne having some extra time on the clock.

I'm thinking this is going to be a very different sounding EP than Covert Coup. 5-7 tracks, with a true sequel to Covert Coup coming when they have accumulated enough content that has a similar feel to the original. Could be entirely wrong, just seems like they're unsure how they want to frame it being that they announced and it seemed like it was going to be in our libraries for listening last night, and then nothing came of it. Waiting patiently, maybe even waiting til 4/20, but I'll bet it comes in the next couple of days.

Covert Coup is a tough act to follow.

EDIT: BTW if anyone told me in 2010 after Chemical Warfare dropped less than a year earlier, that a damn 28 minute FreEP with Currensy and Alchemist would be my favorite project of his this side of 2010 I would've laughed at you. The amount of times I've enjoyed Covert Coup over the last 5 years is really surprising.

I wasn't expecting it to be shyt when it was first announced back in late 2010. I'll also admit that I slept on Currensy and Pilot Talk 1 and 2 also.
