He shoots 12 threes a game lol. In the Memphis game he had 24 FGA and NINETEEN of them were threes. Thats not uncommon for him. He attempted 200+ more threes than the next closest guy. Cool stat but when no other great shooters in this league are even coming close to your amount of attempts whats it really worth? All it says to me is that Steph really really likes to shoot 3s.
Its like using raw ppg to say Player A is a better scorer than B, since As ppg is 6 points higher. But if Player A is taking 26 shots a game and B is taking 18 then....granted Currys efficiency from 3 is amazing but he still blows everyone out the water in attempts so who cares.
No other great shooter can do what he does though, you have to have the ability to create the shot off the dribble as well. He made 182 unassisted threes this year, that would tie him for 13th in the league for total threes, nobody else can do that. This is like Shaq leading the league in dunks during his prime.
No other shooter can get off the type of looks he can, if they had to take threes off the dribble as often as he does they wouldn't be near 45%, dudes would be putting up Michael Adams type numbers .296 on 8.5 attempts a game
