ok, some ducktales are abound here. ive NEVER seen co-prod by D-Dot and Kanye West. D always took the pub and the full credit. Exhibit A
11.1 Poppa Was A Playa
Mixed By Rich Travali Producer Deric Angelettie* Recorded By Jon Shriver Written-By A. W. Felder*, D. Angelettie*, N. Jones*, N. R. Harris*
not a writing credit, nothing. and everyone knows Ye did Poppa Was A Player, i understand where D comes from where exec producers and producers got connections to go with music but you never gave dude a co-credit and you didnt do that beat. so maybe Ye fronted on the thank yous and whatnot, but dont make shyt up
Sometimes cats will hide you in the instrument/programming credits instead of giving you co-production or writing (pub)
I'm not sure, but Kanye at least received co-production credits for everything except "Poppa Was a Playa". It seems that was more so label politics than a blatant credit theft on D. Dot's part. At the time, Nas and Jay were still beefing and Kanye produced "Takeover" so maybe Columbia just gave D. Dot the credit.
I remember first seeing Kanye's name in the credits specifically Jermaine Dupri's Life In 1472. I think booklets to other albums that Kanye had production on mis-spelled his name as "Kayne" instead of "Kanye".
