WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Derrick Rose has taken some heat in recent days for some flippant things he said about people critical have how little he’s played this season, or in recent seasons.
“I’m thinking about long-term,” Rose initially said. “I’m thinking about after I’m done with basketball. Having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to, I don’t want to be in my meetings all sore or be at my son’s graduation all sore just because of something I did in the past. [I’m] just learning and being smart.”
On Thursday, he doubled down in speaking with TNT’s Rachel Nichols.
“I think people took that out of term, took that out of content [sic],” he said. “And it is what it is, but I was being myself, and that’s all I can be. So I could care less.”

Charles Barkley hammered Rose for his remarks, saying last night on TNT’s
NBA Tip-Off, “There are pros and cons to what we do for a living. Derrick Rose is making $20 million a year. He got a couple bad knees. That’s disrespectful to maids, people who are in the army who go out and kill people and get killed, got no arms and no legs. And listen, as much as I like Derrick Rose, that was just flat-out stupid.”
Fortunately, Rose has former Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas on his side.
Arenas — who is
still collecting checks through 2016 on a contract he signed in 2008, despite not having played since 2012 — applied his typical unwavering reason to the situation Friday afternoon, in his latest
Instagram rant.
