I feel like the battles eliminated so much potential and that was my only gripe.

But I also but they overdid the background of the artists too. Lol.

Ehh they did a great job with this show in terms of promo, production, talent, etc

99% of these competitions are duds... hell, JD has one going right now called The Rap Game and nobody cares

You didnt know that? Who heard of this competition happening? Why did they have back stories of all the people who made it far? Most of the contestants had industry connects. That said D Smoke is nice

It's called writing, production and editing. They most likely did detailed back stories on every artist in the competition and then only used the ones that made for the best TV. Or they filmed all the shyt and then when they knew who the best artists were and who won they then went back and did back stories on the main artists.

And I remember them promoting this shyt heavy before they started filming. As for there being artists w/ connections in the contest, that's why they call them "connections", and say "it's not what you know it's who you know" and finally, that's the whole concept of nepotism and why some people hate it but it's a part of everyday life, for better or for worse.

D smoke is clearly multi talented. But damn I'm conflicted with these scripted reality shows. He has industry connects. Did Smoke really need this show? Like he's too talented for all this. This show seemed like it was made for Smoke to win. Like, it was scripted for him to win. The other contestants were talented. But clearly they weren't on smoke level. Reality TV is weird. Smoke connected to Kendrick, TDE and he's SiR's breh. Why is he here? You can do it without this show. Industry Plant weirdness. As overused as that term is.....

Dsmoke a guitar playing, singing, rapping, producing beats, rapping in Spanish, stage pressence on point, multi talented artists from South LA County with gang banging history, who "came outta nowhere" like c'mon breh.....

To keep the illusion of talent over etc will get you far. Probably a good way tonusher him in too.
