It sets a dangerous precedent because now if you are a kid and you murder your parents, you can claim sexual abuse and have a shot at getting a lesser sentence without the parents being alive to defend themselves.

Correct. People very rarely serve full sentences. I think the average is like 35% of the sentence unless your crime was really really heinous or you're in there putting hits on the guards.
