I would've never opened that can of worms OP I've seen how that youtube shyt has fukked with kids heads. It's way worse than how normal television hads adds and product placement. Whole channels are adds and these kids don't see it and think they can live that way and feel bad that they can't. The day when anyone could blow up off youtube is gone. I have tried to tell my nephew and nieces that either the youtubers they watch are getting shyt free, alreday rich, or rich cause kids like them watch their videos. Still they want to grow up to be youtubers, they play youtubers I be watching them and as soon as my niece start talking it's "So today guys I wanted to talk about" in her fakest voice.

Created a Youtube channel for my 6 year old yearssss ago and put up one video and thought nothing of it.

She knows the name of the channel and hit me up last night say she only has 6 subscribers and that means nobody likes her ...I was , but realized its a good teaching moment.

I'll be able to let her know her self worth and self esteem is not associated to no stupid numbers...............however, how many people out here looking at numbers and likes like

I know so many grown women talmbout followers and likes this person getting

That's what Im thinking your child doesn't even have to be fukking special in any sense. Have them play videogames and toys and do reaction videos on popular subjects. I dont know about a million subs but you can pull in a lot more than six with simple shyt.

as much as we wanna hate it and Lord knows I got my issues with social media

you’ve gotta accept the world our kids will live in isn’t the world we lived in and move accordingly. Otherwise kids are gonna be kids and eventually she’ll do it without you knowing or being around to guide her. .. if they’re gonna be on say a YouTube you’ve gotta have dialogue, encouragement and reassurance on your child to make art and expression and most importantly make it for themselves.

Like some of us did drawing comic books, writing poetry, writing raps etc growing up

There’s a lot of folks on this forum that could’ve benefited from a talk from their parents/OGs

they wouldn’t have wasted time, money and effort on things that really didn’t make THEM happy as much as it gave them that short rush of when someone complimented their shoes, belt, car etc.

and to add on this point I hope you taught her this shyt is a process. You won’t blow overnight. Shoulda just told her do it for fun and not worry about the numbers but then again she seems like she has an awareness of what they “mean” .

shyt is tricky, I have a little bro who’s channel got suspended after gaining 100 subs over the summer and that shyt discouraged him for a while but he still trying to keep pursuing his goals.
