Dallas is actually a very liberal city. The suburban areas is where the conservative people live. Every major issue from Mexican immigrats housing, Syrian refugees housing, to Ebola, Dallas and Dallas County has been liberal and sided with the President.

Fort Worth is the very conversative city. Its the oil and gas city. The cities are like night and day.

I'm from Dallas and the actual city is pretty liberal. It's the suburbs that are conservative(Plano, McKinney, Highland Park, Southlake, etc). He's just stating the obvious.
