Because of their replacement value. Also keep in mind that's the first time Murray every played all 16 games. With that oline as is...the Cowboys would be wiser finding a back in the draft than overpaying a guy they'll be able to replace. Plus Dez is way more valuable and they need to pay him.

This. HIs production WILL decline next year, the only question is by how much. I'm sure someone he'll get a higher offer, but this is shockingly smart from Jerry. Will be interesting to see if he sticks to it, or caves in to pressure and gives him as much as some other team will offer to keep him in Dallas.
