350.00$ Purple Label Ralph Lauren Tailored fit Pique Polo
http://www.ralphlauren.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=31042166

That shirt is the example of the 'Loss Leader' that Dame Dash spoke of the video clip.
Can you afford that lifestyle? Can you afford to actually play a game of Polo?
That is an exmple of buying into a Lifestyle.

Yeah I have a couple purple label pieces in my collection. As far as playing polo have no interest in it. Im sure since I live in England wouldnt be that hard though.

actually there is a shytload of clothing lines that are owned by black people and are independent....

Slowbucks
LSR (Cats from Harlem)
CokeBoys
PinkDolphin (honestly not sure who owns but urban driven)

all of the above make decent shyt and just as DAME is telling us they all ship/sell from online....

:laff:

breh, these brands are trash, fuk if they are black owned, if it aint good its not good, mad cliche, and pink dolphin is owned by Young L from the pack, cant believeyou even mentioned cokeboys and strugglebucks :russ:

kneegas might aswel just go cop some vintage fubu and karl karni

Coming from the dude said he wanted to be Ralph Lauren, and the guy who currently sells 5k and 1k jackets, and 100 dollar boxers

Who's that for Dame :birdman:

Why would Polo embrace hip hop? It makes no sense from a marketing standpoint.

So if a black guy wanted to play polo, he's acting white all of a sudden. :smugdraper: Forget about the quality, and fit that has been RL's reputation for decades. How many people buy Polo to aspire to live that lifestyle? They would buy Purple Label for the lifestyle argument, as well as Guc

Dame's point about Rocawear is false. It could have lasted, if it changed with the times. He mentions splitting it, but Ralph Lauren still is Ralph Lauren, regardless if you buy from anyone of his brands (and he has like 10 separate lines). How could separating the identity help your business? None of those other companies had anything to do with Rocawear. It wasn't Rachel Roy by Rocawear. :aicmon: So that point is irrelevant. And the clothing line had a terrible name to begin with; it was just promotion for the rab label.

Diddy gave these nikkas the blueprint :takedat:

no way should polo ever embrace hiphop, i mean, they kind of did with the polo sport range, some of those bits were kinda baggy and "urban" ish but i dont think RL cares about race, i have seen black guys in their ads

Sean John is :fif:, they were forced to close down their flagship store, that line is found only in discount racks now
525 million in revenue, and exclusively sold in Macy's = discount racks now. They still have a store in the city too

And either way, it has lasted longer than Rocawear has, and was more critically acclaimed. The clothes were the selling point, not the brand

imo no, dame had charisma and his gimmick was a arrogant street guy that knows how to make money

maybe someone can piggy bank off Drake or even Asap Rocky (not asap yams)

even with the internet now not many background people have the light on them like Dame did, jigga wasnt even a big talker back then too so that helped

I would think if he found the right artist maybe more so. Maybe records arent selling but artists are just as popular and maybe even more so because of the internet. I mean you cant download clothes. But brand wise I think you could possibly do more faster. But what are the chances of finding aother talent like Jayz
