Dame seems mad about a lot of shyt these days. He was one of the most powerful nikkas in the rap game. I probably would be bitter as fukk too if I seen cats that was beneath me now more powerful than me. That shyt has to hurt your pride. Assistants and interns are now bigger than dude as far as taste making goes.

I've been told Flex doesn't really do interviews. I can't recall the last time he did one. Trust me, I've tried. But with where I'm standing with Hot 97 these days, that might could not ever happen. Or at least for a while.

Red Alert soon come.

Joey I.E. shows up, says nothing important, and walks away with a "black friend" cosign and goes on with business as usual. Thats typical culture vulture tactics and its lame if Jack allowed it to go down like that. Dame is right again.

This. Everything Dame said was actually true.

"The theory of “the Dionysian trap for young black men” was posited in March in the New York Times by Orlando Patterson, the Harvard sociologist, to explain the findings in several recent economic studies diagnosing “the tragic disconnection of millions of black youths from the American mainstream.” Patterson decried the pervasiveness and bankruptcy of “the ‘cool-pose’ culture of young black men”—“hanging out on the street after school, shopping and dressing sharply, sexual conquests, party drugs, hip-hop music and culture”—the power of which, he said, is “almost like a drug.”

Under this theory, then, Dash looks more and more like the dupe of a corrupt value system, an object lesson of empty consumerism. Dash has never been very interested in hip-hop as an artistic movement. “It’s all about finding ways to make money off an upscale urban product,” he says. “That’s what I do. I’m a businessman. Period.” In his view, if there’s more to life than money and taste, it’s all the great stuff you can get if you have money and taste."

I cant believe yall dont see thru damon dash, shyt is hilarious. He is broke and desperate, simple as that, when you decide to fight the good fight after u done lost it all it seems like an angle bro, an obvious angle. The true nature of a man is how he behaves when he is on top, if he is righteous even when he is on top, on some Marcus Aurelius shyt, then thats a good dude in general. But now that u crusty and they foreclosing ur properties and your business is 100% intern-based, now all of sudden u a freedom fighter? Ehh, he from harlem, he just tryin to eat again

Freddie Foxx. But keep that on the low though.
should be a classic. I know he's got stories for days. congrats on the grind and success. as someone that does a weekly podcast it can be a struggle.

also, daps for givin my HU bro ben a look.

funniest thing about this dame backlash is dude had a 5 minute hamburger w/o the gallon hat routine in there cooking flex for standing up for his friend, a grown man; yet now, he's disappointed combat didn't take his side. like being neutral is the "new taking a side." dame being dame.

@CombatJack,

As someone who has been on the inside, can you give us your opinion as to the lack of black execs in the music business? Especially in black music?

I'm writing because ya'll have supported me over the past few years.

6. My ad dollars are extremely meager and I'm not at all tf censored. Basically, I make $ to pay for studio time. Basically, I don't get paid. The most I ever made, take home, from this show was around $54.00. #FactsOnly. Joie will never do me a favor, so I don't see the sell out angle. To this day I get pressure from wifey AND the kids as to why I stay doing this shyt for no pay. But I love the history I get to hear first hand. I'm a FAN first of most of my guests. Too many Negus too cool to call themselves fans these days. But if that gets ya'll amped to paint me the bad guy over night, ya'll can rock with that to make ya'll sleep good and make ya'll feel better about yourselves.

9. Dallas stopped coming to the show. He's a fukking genius and I love that man as a brother. But this is the 4th time in 4 years he decided to stop coming. He's a grown ass man too, so I respect whatever moves he makes, but I gots to keep this ship here moving. Pete stayed riding. But DP and even Just Blaze will be team members of this shyt for life. Ain't no backstory to this.

Thanks for breaking this down for us, especially since you didnt have to....This Dallas Penn sh1ts been a mystery for a minute and both you and him have been so cryptic about whats going on, it made it seem like the Complex situation and "suspension" was the breaking point...He'll chop it up with me in great detail about Timbs and Polo but gets vague whenever I mention TCJS

You're still better than 90% of the people covering hip hop even without DP....He just makes the cipher complete imo...

I guess we're both cryptic because we both really don't know what happened. At least I don't. But that's what friends do, they don't necessarily owe each other an explanation and such. It'll happen when it happens.

@CombatJack,

As someone who has been on the inside, can you give us your opinion as to the lack of black execs in the music business? Especially in black music?

It is what it is. Like I asked Joie, I wonder why no one grooms Black execs to grow and have power, but there's mad white being groomed for the future. Nepotism? A more intricate conspiracy? White self preservation? I dunno. I know I don't like it.
