SOHH ICEY N.O.
I thought he just said recently that he didn't want to buy it anymore. I forget where, but wasn't that in one of his recent interviews?

He said something like he's letting it go.

That's Dame's pride and joy too. I can see why he's holding onto that.
I'm sure they don't talk or discuss it anymore cause he know dame won't sell it, so it's no reason to speak on it

I believe Jay offered him a share of publishing for some his other albums, just to have sole ownership of RD. Sometime after being appointed Def Jam president (remember the Rocabella name was "sold" to DJ, they absorbed the acts left on the label, Dame & Biggs were outed all together while Jay was able to keep the roster).....Jay was asked about Reasonable Doubt and referred to it as his "baby", made a very very generous offer and was rebuffed by Dame who was understandably upset about being pushed out.

Reasonable Doubt means more to Jay then the rest of his entire catalogue and not having ownership of is bothers him a great deal to this day even if he doesn't discuss it anymore.

Dame is acting like the scorned ex girlfriend when the dude moves out the house and leaves his prized baseball cards or comic book collection. Now he's on some "nah nah na nah nah" you can't have it" bullshyt :camby:

Lmao@getting negged by :flabbynsick: hip hop fans who can't deal with harsh economic realities.

You fukkboys have to sell your babymother's food stamps to get enough cash for some 3 for $10 babies of reggie, you'd have to sell your mother's kidneys on the black market to be able to afford tickets to a profitable Reasonable Doubt anniversary show.

Ain't nobody bout spend dollar one to put together a tour of :flabbynsick: Jiggaman walking around in a circle on stage struggling to remember 20 year old :flabbynsick::duck:'s about poisoning his community, especially seeing as how u Karl Kani rocking ass :flabbynsick: fans ain't gon do shyt but watch shaky cell phone uploads of that struggle juice on the same website ur frontin on.

And this coming from a nikka who listens to RD album cuts every time I turn my playlists on.:mjlol:

Well u probably not that big of a music fan

Cause any artist I like enough I'm going to go back and hear what came first cause I might have been sleepin

How could u listen a song like Kendrick Lamar "the heart pt3" and not want to go back and hear the project that part 1 and 2 was created on

Like if u never section 80 u won't full get good kid cause songs like "sing about me" reference songs from it
im not that hard into music, but that was the point I was trying to make. Most people are not hip-hop junkies, so the probability of them actually knowing what RD is gotta be LOW AS HELL. makes me wonder why the publishing of an album that old is such a huge deal. i have never heard people mention RD like they do ILLMATIC. But then again so many hipsters are in love with ILLMATIC

Exactly.... But there are MILLIONS of people who ARE (music junkies). Hell, they got award shows, festivals, forums, radio stations all over the world DEDICATED to it.. Lol! Maybe It's not necessarily the publishing thats a huge deal (For him at least) .....But its probably his most critically acclaimed album.. He has stated that it is the foundation for EVERYTHING else that he has EVER done... So the value that HE (who's music catalogue could be worth over 100 M's currently) has placed on it, is what makes it VALUABLE.. The Greatest Rapper Of All Time (debatable).. Says that this particular album is HIS GREATEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME (also debatable)... Which in turn makes it one of HIP HOP'S GREATEST ALBUMS....Ps.. Let me ask you... Have you ever heard of Reasonable Doubt? (and I'm not asking that to be funny or smug.. real question)... And speaking of Illmatic... they're using a 20 yr old Nas song for whole Nas/Hennessey campaign.. But I think above ALL other reasons mentioned, he probably wants Reasonable Doubt because it's more than likely the last remaining thing connecting him, Dame and Biggs business wise.. Owning those masters would mean all remaining business ties to the original principles or rocafella records would be severed... All business and personal decisions regarding that album would be his call to make..

No im not really a Jay-z fan tho.

This was a pretty good post, I was saying that from a monetary point, how can the album be worth that much. But I now see from a historical/sentimental stand the album is priceless.
