The Truth
No, he wouldn't. Because Dame is self destructive and destroys everything he touches.
But I def agree Tidal could use a better direction. I used to work at a medical practice, and every year the doctor would send us to these wack conferences about how you could increase your patient total by 100% if you just follow these easy steps. They were always bullshyt gimmicks and wack business ideas. One year we went to a less expensive conference tho, and this dude presented an idea that the OP of this thread touched on. He said the money is in your practice. You gotta make sure you maximize the patients you have, make sure none fall through the cracks, and get them to bring their family members. Far less expensive and grand of an idea than any of the "get patients quick" schemes we saw in the past.
That's what Tidal needs. They aren't gonna beat Spotify. It's time to look at what Netflix is doing. Netflix recognizes what their audience wants - for instance true crime documentaries - and produces it. Tidal should be focusing on content that their existing subscribers want, beyond just "hey here's an exclusive Hov album out of nowhere." I don't know what that content is, since I'm not looking at their data. I'd love for it to include music documentaries though. B-sides from Hov and other artists as well.
It's 10-15x's times more expensive trying to acquire new customers than it is to maintain your current clients. That's one of the most sacred rules in business. The problem with Tidal is they're using music as a limited commodity that's only valuable as long as it's exclusive. They're trying to lure in valuable customers with album releases. They'll never retain long term users like that. They'll keep seeing spikes in growth and then spend resources and time trying to accommodate people that are exhausting the platform only for awhile.
Apple has thier subscriber base built in platforms which is the device. Spotify has tenure and seniority. Tidal can't play the numbers game. They don't have the channels volume wise to play that game. However, they still can brand themselves as the platform they pitched on initially.
Saying Dame is self destructive and destroys everything he touches is false and a dangerous way to speak about someone that has given so much to modern hip hop culture. He's had his hand in some of the dopest movements artist wise than anybody else. Of course people want to bring up Motor Oil to try and play him when they don't want to do the intellectual work and recall all the shyt he made hot and was a catalyst to. I'm not saying he's perfect but he has the brains and the brawn that's needed today especially. He can look at the artist, the songs, the packaging, the numbers and spit out a solution. Plus he's not a guy that's going to let anyone slander him and be so comfortable about it without checking them. This is exactly who Tidal needs.
Everybody talking funny and trying to play the man has no idea what they're talking about.
Dame is the better businessmen but Jay does business better.![]()
What does this mean exactly? I mean it sounds good, but when you actually think about it...how is it possible to be the better businessman and not do the best business? Jay gets a lot of looks because he's the celebrity, but he probably could've got a lot more out the deals if his acumen was on the level of Dame's.
