peer (and adult) pressure and name brand colleges are a status symbol to some of these sheep. can't be at a signing ceremony in the gym announcing you're going to lehigh.
I would also imagine its beneficial to play against better competition in both games & practices, along with having a national spotlight to showcase yourself on a regular basis

not to mention better facilities and resources (and typically better coaching)

Even though they wont make the playoffs they still have a nice foundation with this backcourt of theirs. We know what Lillard can do and CJ is the real deal too. Provided they find a big or two to match up with them in the long term and provided that they can continue to share the ball and thrive together the future is still bright in Portland and while they may struggle for a year or two they will be poised to bounce back as a playoff team sooner than later.

and yet with all those disadvantages mid-majors still put out players. if it's about competition the best bet would be to avoid college altogether and go abroad.

They're both minus defenders. Nowhere near the best backcourt in the League. Splash bros. already got that locked up. Harden/Ty & Wall/Beal battle it out for 2nd.

I used to watch CJ's college highlights, there was no way he wasn't gonna show out if he stayed healthy :wow:
:sadcam: that's just it. The first two years in the league he struggled staying healthy :snoop:
shyt is inevitable someone will get the blazer curse(Oden, Roy, etc)....
But on a side note curry was very injury prone his first couple years in the league, I'm sure @Blackthoughts remembers those days....he's been a lot healthier these past 2-3 years.
So there's some hope for cj as well :to:
