I used to ride with my friends when he was drunk just driving back to campus from a party that was 5 minutes away and then I stopped because I realized it could all go away. Reading the thread, I can read between the lines that there are a few posters who have an appreciation for speeding.
If one of you can tell me, what is the purpose of speeding and racing?
Myself...I like being in control at all times. Don't like placing my life in the hands of chance. Never did, even as a youth.
I've never owned a bike because my logic tells me
"If you hit something or something hits you on this bike....your good looks, athleticism, etc., can evaporate".
So I'd like someone to take a stab at painting the picture for me? Am I just too calculating?

When I was in my early 20s I had a black/red Honda CBR1000. One night I left a bike meet at Hooters and headed home. It was 1am. No cars on the highway and I hit the throttle and got up to 171mph. The white lines on the highway became 1 long connected line. My adrenaline was through the roof. I would never do that again, one little rock could’ve sent me flying.

Those speeding cameras near DC ain't no joke. They will make you come off a few hundred... and they should.This the type of shyt that always happens here in the DMV, most especially on 495, Suitland Parkway, Riverdale Rd, Branch Ave, and Livingston Rd here in PG. That’s why we got so many speeding cameras out here in the residential zones
My homie lived in Germany for 8 years, and he said that the Autobahn is a death trap. He did 220mph in his souped up 5 series Beamer and he said that even a slight pothole can flip your car over.

My mind was spaced out for a bit while I was taking my friend home to Hyattsville (I should’ve ignored my damn GPS telling me to go thru DC lol) and I didn’t know that I was doing 47 in a 25 down the hill going towards the Nation of Islam mosque on Pennsylvania. I was a residential assistant for a fraternity at MIT. The university issued a memo to RA's reminding us to tell the frats yo look both ways before crossing the street. I couldn't believe I was asked to do something we learn in our early years. Thing is, the school was right. Had a friend hit by a motorcycle in downtown Boston. When I asked if she looked before stepping out, she kept it a buck and said no... smh
Never had a bike, but honestly, with a car, factor in adrenaline and stupidity and the need to be the best at everything and you have a recipe for disaster. Speeding gives you a thrill, makes you feel like king of the road. plus, people just take what they think are calculated risks, but in actuality are real life gambles. They don’t think about the repercussions.
