Smart criminals don’t get arrested, you definitely wouldn’t see him on the internet doing what these other dudes are doing right now, these nikkas talk too damn much

Pusha has caught heat back home in The 7-5 because of how greasy he speaks in the tough guy sense. He and Mal are essentially the same, neither one of them are tough guys, both had they hands in some work, made some decent money, but were suburbanites who made they bread in the burbs. They coulda got jammed up but were always arm's length away from the front line.

In a way, yes, this makes them smart criminals, and I wouldn't doubt that they were laced about how to move from older relatives that were in the coke business. They caught some breaks though, like essentially the difference between selling cocaine to white suburbanites in 90s Virginia Beach, vs a few miles away selling cocaine to black dealers in the trenches of 90s Norfolk. The location of where they did their business plays a part in how they skated away from being arrested too, they were in an era before law enforcement really honed in on crime in The Beach, vs if they were in Norfolk in the same era.

(They were "in" Norfolk, their entire mom's side is from there, but they weren't in the streets in Norfolk, they made their paper selling to white people in VB. Money is money, but the dynamics around how they made their money explains why they never had real street beefs or legal issues despite doing well for themselves before rap).

So it makes them smart in a sense but they were also lucky.

I'll also add that The Beach they grew up in is long gone, if they were of post-90s era VB would've been a lot more competition for the shyt they were doing. Its not just white suburbanites out there anymore.

To your central point about smart criminals, though. The number of people who were ever involved on a real level and NEVER get arrested, is low. Those people exist but are outliers and nowhere near the norm. Smart criminals aren't in and out of jail all the time, but Push never been arrested. Those guys who really out there and NEVER catch a case are 1%'ers. That ain't common at all.
