Breh, you don't follow card collecting at all. That article is referencing common cards which were mass produced.

Do you remember Lewis Lloyd? Neither does anyone else on this site, but his 1986 card sold for $630:

Early 90s stuff is mostly blah, but there is still PLENTY of value to be found. I can dig up 100s more examples if you really want to argue with me on this.

1986 fleer psa 10 | eBay
1986 is also the cut-off year mentioned in that article

I understand that certain sets and cards might still have a lot of value. but it's just not like it was back then, when it seemed like the value for these types of collectibles would keep going up. most reach a plateau, and even then it's harder to find buyers because the market is more niche. but I guess ebay and such makes it easier to connect with the few buyers that might be still out there

Prices are actually going up on quite a few of these items. The people who grew up collecting cards in the 80s and 90s have the money to bid on this stuff now.

Sure, some of it is worthless crap, but because of the condition sensitive nature of most of the cards from the 80s (and some from the early 90s), the prices have never been higher for quality copies.

Some of the new cards are extremely expensive. Wiggins cards for example have been through the roof.
