You are forgetting that PSN is a pay service now. In the past it didn't matter because PSN was free so you could just make another name and keep it moving. Now you gotta pay a monthly fee so its a little different now
And with friendslist being much bigger now, thats a lot of work if you ever did change your name
Nobody is saying its the end of the world, but it is a huge inconvenience if you wanted or needed to.
Don't learn this in hindsight bruh, be aware now

I'm under the understanding that PSN offers up to 1gb of cloud storage which should be enough to hold your info while you make the switch.
Now if you have physical copies of games, you'll have to reinstall all of them
And imagine doing that 2/3/4yrs from now
I wish they would provide unlimited storage in the cloud like XB1 does. Oh well...
