Worked the biz for about 6 years. The techs make about $22-27hr but both companies I worked for split the sales side off to a diff dept of salesmen that are clean cut and talk well (techs usually aren’t good sale people). The salesmen were clearing $100k+ easily and here in Houston we are the biggest air conditioned city in the country. It’s also recession depression proof, you could literally die here with no a/c in summer months and a few choice days here in the winter you could freeze to death if elderly. It’s a great profession to be in, I was on the admin side of things and moved on but it’s GUARANTEED money no matter what.

Plumbers are making even more
They make about the same down here and work even harder than hvac techs since you gotta hump in and out of attics with water heaters and also deal with human shyt on a daily basis with toilets and sewage line breaks (we don’t have septic tanks down here but they also deal with those shyt buckets as well :scusthov: )

Sky’s the limit on hours though. When you’re desperate you’ll pay anything with plumbing

Yeah but my brother in law is always on call and having to go out at 2am any day of the week. Fk all that, both of these professions work life balance isn’t nearly worth it compared to white collar if you’re a family man like myself. My brother in law gets zero time to raise his kids or even chill and watch his favorite sports team. I get hustle gang I’m just not bout that lyfe

Read something on reddit about how plumbers will sometimes overcharge on jobs they don't really wanna do but the clients will usually accept their offers out of desperation. Or just overcharge for jobs that can take 8-15 mins to complete.

That’s any trade profession, mechanics will say “yeah it’s $15k for your new Mercedes transmission” because it will take a whole day of work (8 hours) that they would usually only make in a day $1k but they quoted it that high to scare them off on purpose because they never wanted to do it.

Privileged ass nikkas
I remember nikkas in my family telling me to just goto FAM since I had the grades but instead I was thinking of enlisting. Fast forward to 2020 these same nikkas gotta fight over cases of water and toilet paper at Walmart.

The real money will be in branching off on your own and getting people to work for you.
We called them Chuck and a truck businesses, they used to eat well off craigslist but now with offer up and Facebook marketplace combined with the apps that let you hire pros on demand which cut out overhead that’s where the real money is at plus you set your own hours

You not seeing anywhere CLOSE to 100k if you a non union hvac tech :mjlol:

Keep telling my boy who go to Coyne, he let those cac instructors pump his head up.

Meanwhile Blake is a Union HVAC apprentice about to make $33 an hour as an apprentice and you gotta work at speedway to pay your tuition @Barnett114

Nah breh, HVAC is one of those trades where you can eat Union or Non-Union

Non-Union Commercial and Industrial HVAC easily make 100k a year
