Why would a team do that though? :dwillhuh:

between cats saying he can still play because he's been playing with this condition and others saying teams should draft him anyway to make him feel good there is alot of stupidy in this thread. I can see a team signing him for a day like what the Saints did with that player from Tulane who got paralyzed, or Eric Legrand with the Bucaneers, but no team is spending a 2nd round draft pick on a dude that they know isn't going to play.

that was a sad interview to hear this morning, but his life may have been saved. good luck to him, it's going to be rough, but he's young enough to find a new passion and it seems like Baylor is doing the right thing with this so hopefully he'll succeed in something else.

why not?
most second rounders don't make it anyway. plus if it was the 59th or 60th pic...:manny:

its not like they are forced to sign him and pay him.
Isiah Thomas was the last pick in the 2011 draft - if I were a franchise I would rather roll the dice on finding a potential rotation player or stashing a Euro rather that some sympathy pick

meh....to each there own.

I'm not saying I would do it, but it would be a nice story, and a team could buy some good will with a gesture like that.
whats really the difference between the 60th pick and an undrafted player brought in as a free agent?

a team like the Spurs(Texas) even thought they draft good, could pick him up...

a lot of teams just give those picks away in deals anyway

While it sucks that he can't play. it's better than seeing him collapsing on the court or gym like those high school kids you hear about.

I think they avoided certain doctors and kept the injuries out of the media (the eye problem was not disclosed until 2014 even though he has had it for a while - he blamed it on a basketball injury).

Sometimes people have one set of physicians for their profession and another for their personal. I think he and his family knew of their conditions for a very long time.
