Lets be real here. I think dedicated servers is one of the most compelling features of the Xbox one but there sure are a lot of people here praising MS for this when they were quick to say dedicated servers aren't a big deal last generation. SMDH. Same deal w the Sony Stans that are now talking about "it's only a couple bucks a month". Y'all exposing your true colors.

I've told people several times that cloud computing is more than just dedicated servers several times. I know from experience because we use it at work everyday but people are still gonna downplay it. What Sony has is a great console but it seems like a lot of sony stans discount azure based on what they hope it does, and that's fail, but if any of you have any experience with it at all then you know what it's capable of. It's not going to be a huge day one difference but day one it'll be huge, I've seeb azure go from a 5 to 6 second latency delay to a 1 or 2 second latency delay. This is in the span of 2 years. So I think it can be big for gaming in a couple of years but it's going to require games to have a online requirement and faster than average speed. So I don't know how it's going to work at this time for gaming.

I know what Azure does since my company contemplated going to it for our software and current server setup. Thing is it was cheaper for us long term to stay and develop our internal cloud structure.

BTW... I think everyone has the wrong idea of what 300k servers means. There's virtually no way they mean 300k physical servers.

You mean simply for data backup? Because there are only a handful of companies capable of what azure does and ms is by far the cheapest. Not to mention r&d and the cost to even get it running. Everything in azure is virtual to the consumer so more than likely they had to rent or buy servers from somewhere. We use physical server along with azure. So far I only know of google, amazon, as direct competitors vut there are about 15 such companies and a big chunk of them use google, amazon, or azure for structural stability. I'm talking about actual open source cloud computation, not cloud storage or streaming.
