Damn it kinda hurts going into the Booth and not being familiar with the artists being discussed.

Its not painful to me

Cause the music is wack

I was actually proud of myself the first time I read one of the stories of fukcery and I literally had no idea who the people were.

They suck and they deserve to be unknown

Do you feel sad that you don't know all the brussels sport recipes?

Or if they have new flavors of potted meat?

hole up, what new flavors they got? :_magne:

There was a time when people had to jump thru hoops to get on or meet the right person and the right time right place type thing. They had a genuine love for the culture. The internet is a double edged sword imo. It’s good that artists have the ability to have more control over their careers. But it’s bad that anybody with an internet connection can get on
:wow: The good ol days when you had to shop your demo

I'm 35 years old and only way I learn about a lot these artists are coli threads. In the car I'm listening to podcasts, 90s-mid 2000s rap, 2000s and below r&b, etc. I never listen to the radio so I'm out the loop.

Not hating because generations before me didn't like my music so :yeshrug:

:flabbynsick:

I feel you, I'll be in the booth lost as hell sometimes like seeing threads about NBA Youngboy and thinking he's a ball-player :heh::flabbynsick:

Listening to westside Gunn now for the first time and I'm hearing a huge WU influence

yeah man especially ghostface. i mean besides the fact that he named one of his projects supreme blientele, you can hear it in his choice of words, phrases, delivery, swag etc. kinda like old nas with rakim and g rap

at the end of messhall talk off hitler wears hermes part one gunn tells this story of hitting up a fashion show and tries to politic with tom ford and karl lagerfeld, tom fronted on him so he mushed him and got kicked out. i literally rewind this part over and over again and die laughing every time. reminded me of ghost on child's play reminiscing about school and how he wants to go back. very ghostface in his humor

with gunn i also hear a heavy 90's queensbridge influence too. if you need suggestions on any specific songs or projects i got you bro

I'm in my mid-30s and know nearly all the young artists.

It takes effort to keep up with music, but if you want to you can. I love to stay young at heart though and music is such a big part of my life.

It's not as easy when you're older because most of your friends don't keep up, so you're not really surrounded by the culture like you were when you were younger.

Another reason I want to keep up: I don't want to grow old and resentful. Not being familiar with new music is the first step that makes people get more conservative because they have no choice but to see the younger generations build a culture. That said, there is no stopping them from partaking in the culture themselves.
