Damn it looks like the reparations debate is alive and well.

If people only pushed to get what was expected, they wouldn't have gotten anything.
What’s your opinion brotha, how realistic is reparations to you if student loan relief is rejected?

I’m wondering if the anti student loan relief people are pro-reparations.

Should biracial folks get it? I'm talking Gullah dad that's 95% African and 100% Swedish mom.

Both my parents are ADOS, all of my grandparents and great grandparents. At the 2x great level it's one Mexican, a couple of "mulattoes" and the rest identified as "Negro" on the old census records. That AND being 88% west/central African makes my claim easy as fukk.

The challenge is for Team Paper Bag. :sas2: . How Black do you gotta be? :sas2:
Yes because biracials were still slaves

Not like a lot of them had a choice in the matter… massa was raping anything probably animals too

This should be specifically ADOS. If you have slavery in your lineage caused by the American government then you qualify

If you had African American on your census the last one then you should be eligible..should be the least criteria.

Reparations in the form of easier access to business loans, or grants. Education ...

It's doable..we gotta keep the discussion going. 100years ago black people getting voting rights was seen as impossible...but keeping the topic going worked out in the end as well as leaders pushing for change.

This really wouldn't be hard to do properly. Start a new census. Create new categories similar to what we have now with "non hispanic white" "non hispanic black" except it would be "non-african black" "african black" "hispanic black". If your census data shows for 5 years that you've been identifying as "non-african black" and if your tax information shows that you're making less than a $150,000 a year over a period of those 5 years, you are eligible for reparations. You get it in the form of annual checks. The amount that you get paid each year at tax time will depend on your age and family size. A family of 3 might get something like $10,000. A single individual might get something like $2,500. The payments continue for a period of no more than 20 years, and if you make it past 65 you get an additional payout, or expanded medicare coverage(full coverage of care aides to help you age at home, fully subsidized assisted Living at any facility, full coverage of all medical devices etc.)

That's how you bridge the gap within the existing system as well as to create an incentive for people to have kids and pay for the things they need.

I wouldn’t actually mind reperations in that form as well and agree it’s very doable and probably will save them more money that way.

I still think the cash is great but as a people we could further our economic worth very easily. I think they know this as well

But yeah, give s free college access, free trade access, land, easier and better access to loans, businesses, education, etc. every ADOS should be a millionaire in this society for the amount of money our descendants were able to make for this country

This plus what I mentioned above seems very fair.

They promised 40 acres and a mule. Give me 4 acres and payments like this and free access to other thing’s mentioned above and we even

I don't like income limits on reparations. But at least your comment is well thought out.

I appreciate that.

Loosely related, but for the lineage based argument. Would take a tremendous task force, but would be well worth the effort obviously.

Ok. This issue of reparations have always been undermined by those who pollute the atmosphere with nursery distractions.

“Reparations will never happen because every Tom, d1ck and Harry who has a drop of black would come out of the woodwork”.

Ok. That is a sure forecast.

How do u deal with it? Use common sense.

If you have been living life as a white person, and have never put “Black” as your race on any government form, why the hell would any governing body take you seriously or as priority?

See, u have to be very careful when u want to argue a point. When u take a professorial approach to a problem like this, you entangle yourself with your own analysis. Although I suspect you’re just parroting talking points u gleaned from others.

Reparations can happen, BUT the first step to making it a reality must be decisive. When the naysayers arise with their elementary excuses, you must have a rebuttal. And the rebuttal DOES NOT HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED. Analysis paralysis are the parents of inaction.

It's very simple to determine who should qualify for reparations.

1. You Must Be atleast 18 Years or Older

2. You Must have Legally Identified as a Black American For the Last 10 Years

3. You must have atleast one of your Parent that also Identifies as a Black American for the past 10 Years and their lineage can be traced lineage back to American Slavery.
