No, its def mostly 'other' now (I'm including latinos in that). Cab driving for ados used to be a good hustle for vets or disabled brehs who could no longer do construction or whatever. Mostly 1st gen out the south, freelancers. They drove their own cars, hoopties, but we appreciated it bc yellow cabs didn't like to come uptown. The og Africans and (late- arriving) latinos came and slid in that lane.

At some point in the early 90's, tho, African car services popped up with fleets of black cars, which everybody loved. Ran the ados out the business. Latinos then voltron'd up and got their own car services. But for ados men, they'd lost the capital battle.

I literally said ppl loved the (sleek, late model) black cars. Black NY'ers at the time saw it as showing love to other black people, same way we filled up the braiding salons. You just wrong all over the place.
