I took it app on my self to do a little research and basically the only thing they switched on was supporting negros. When the Republicans supported negros and got us out of slavery there party was almost non existent in the south. Democrats held the south who's base is conservative white racist folks. The Republicans wanted to expand their voter base so they expanded to the south and sold out to their racist constituents
