The big three were aging out of their prime, Paul Pierce played his position, Rondo is a contradiction in a lineup with LeBron and Boston isn't South Beach.

He joined Miami for the same reasons Durant did the Warriors - locale, teammates, organization and to get a better shot at a title. and he knew he'd get killed for the move (which everybody did) yet did it anyway because it made him happy.

Why not? They were considered a "super team" at the time and he ended up playing with and getting bailed out by one of them anyway. The only ill-fit would be Rondo and he could have been moved.
