I can play guitar, it was a hell of a thing to learn but since I can now play it is very easy to cover old rock songs, especially since they had pretty simple chord structures. A lot of old rockers came up doing covers before releasing their own material. A cover is relatively easy and a lot of old "original" rock songs used the same basic chords with slight modifications, they just used different lyrics and vocal melodies.

I can use an SP 1200 too and have found it a little more difficult to recreate late 80s early 90s hip hop beats because they often used a lot of different samples and filters. Some hip hop producers would use a basic sample but others were a lot more complex. It's not as easy as it seems. From a technical standpoint I find it harder to make hip hop beats than it is to do a cover song

And Just Blaze might claim he never heard Move On Up but I personally think that's BS. None the less he did a great job on the sample, I've heard others use the same song and not do it justice, plus Just uses live drums on alot of his beats so that alone makes it hard to duplicate

Just said he never heard that song before he sampled it
And didn't know it was popular

But even that beat took skill
Give the average producer that sample and just blaze that sample tell me who's beat would sound better

:rudy: Just is lying on that, and if by chance he isn't how can you be a fan of music or crate digger and not know about Curtis Mayfield's work. I was fully versed on his catalog when I was a kid, largely due to my pops, but again he is a music head

with that said Just didn't do much here besides slow the sample down imo, the quality is in the type of drums used, that's about it
