Remember feeling this in Paris and Bangkok
In both instances police rushed by me to harass some African brehs. They probably recognized them from previous encounters but still it was weird to see them filter me out so easily

Less dramatic but felt like I got more “respect” in conversation in places where African Americans probably aren’t casually vacationing. Like Brussels is known for being institutionally racist to its black locals but I got nothing but respect and love from cacs out there
It’s the same as American cacs thinking blacks are all on welfare and thugs but thinking Africans are family oriented hard workers

My mama and sister said they act like they dont like Americans in certain parts of Paris. Seemingly the richer parts of Paris from what I gathered.

It’s true. I remember being on the train in Germany back to ktown late at night and it was only me and an African chick sitting behind me in the cabin. The train made a stop and there was a group of like 5 drunk Germans that go on being all loud n shyt. A few minutes later one of the dudes in the group came up to me and the chick and said we had to go. The woman behind me looked like she was about to pack up n go so I said dont move. I turned to him and said who are you and is this a private car? Like TF? When buddy realized I wasnt african and actually american he went back n shut up and they never bothered us again.

The only thing I didn't like, was that it seems like a lot of africans in europe use white people as a flex. For example I met a chick out there and she would constantly brag about some old white dude she had pictures up around her apartment and how he's like a dad to her and just the greatest thing ever. At first I thought it was that he actually raised her or something but she started going on about her white coworkers n stuff. She wasn't the only one I seen to do this either.

no. it's because you are used to the LAPD style of policing and when it doesn't happen to you you think it is special.

you are used to right wing american racism.

when you get to europe and people seem generally polite and the police ain't handing out beats like dre you think your experience is special.

some europeans would separate out americans but most can't tell the difference between a british, canadian, australian or american accent.

go to east germany or russia. they don't split hairs like that.

that is why oprah was treated like a refugee in switzerland.

The police are definitely observing you as soon as you land in certain countries like Switzerland or Germany.

The way I see it is that the average European is less likely to come across a Black American man or woman on a day-to-day basis so the hostility is lenient. They don't have to deal with us and we don't deal with them which means interactions are very few on average.

Also, history plays a role too. Black Americans' and White Americans' history/existence intertwines with each other which breeds animosity and contempt due to past and present events.

Africans and Europeans are similar in that regard which is why they (Euros) have more animosity/beef towards Africans than they would have against Black Americans because there are no historical discrepancies. This doesn't mean Euros don't have their racial attitudes/stereotypical beliefs about Black Americans but there's no history between us to be blatant about it.
