Damn so RCA took Tinashe's title track "Joyride" and gave it to Rihanna :mjcry: :damn:

This is a great post and like @dora_da_destroyer always says about Tinashe her music doesn't connect with anyone.

Most of Tinashe fans on here view music in a technical sense anyway and have a checklist on how much they care for an artist. They don't understand the social aspect of music and why Tinashe keeps falling flat

Tinashe has the looks, but looks can only get you so far. I'd say she's talented and I like her vocals. Aquarius was an enjoyable listen to me. But it could've been so much more.

Music is feeling, it's the most magical thing on the planet we have access to. It should invoke some sort of emotion, it has to get a reaction out of you, it has to make you feel. It's like how people who are sad tend to listen to sad music instead of happy music, it's that connection. It makes you feel deep inside that you're not the only one going through it. And on the flip side, when you listen to an inspiring song, you feel like "Damn, I can put my mind to anything too!" It's the feeling.

People's lives are mundane, most people aren't living a thrilling experience. So an artist's job is to take them for a ride. Everyone loves a good story. May as well give them one.

yeah, they're not giving her room to be herself.

She needs to go left of whats popular(like she did with her mixtapes) and just live with what happens.

I mean, if you wanna make a "2 On" for a single, cool.....but "do you" for the rest of the album

I keep saying, she needs to work with Jam & Lewis (the guys who made Janet's dope music), work with the Underdogs, work with Babyface....these are all people who still make good music that can be relevant. Just put together solid albums and do your 1-2 pop singles.

The whole situation with Chris Brown kinda shows you what her situation is. If she's telling the truth that she really didn't care to work with him and that it was the label that made her do it, then this goes to show you what happens when you end up in an interrogation scenario and not have any power in your hands.

Look at Chance. He's independent, and he's doing very well for himself. He didn't have to mold himself into a certain image to sell, he did his own thing and it worked. That's what more artists need to do. Stop looking for a label to save you. The internet is a beautiful thing. With streaming at the forefront and social media is literally at our fingertips, there is no excuse for anyone to not have control over how they run their careers.

i also agree with her working with those producers, because I guarantee you, they'd also give her an image overhaul or at least some artistic direction. Make solid bodies of work instead of chasing hits. You don't become legendary off singles alone, it's the albums that do it. Imagine if Michael never made solid albums, but we praised him anyway because he made Billie Jean? It's the albums.

That actually would've been a dope persona for her...:ehh:. I actually thought that was the direction she was going in with Aquarius & Amethyst, but then she went in the opposite way and hop on the FKA Twigs wave..trying to be all gothic & oversexualized and shyt for no reason.

I mean this pic is :noah:.....but seriously....WTF is this? :mjlol: .

She then reverted back to making uninspired songs for the radio, which none has caught on like 2 On. Tinashe does have a decent following on the internet, but its grown very little. The outside public just think she's just a run of the mill urban pop artist making trendy songs because thats the kinda music she's been pushing since getting signed. Her ass shoulda stayed Indie and continued to build up her following. Continue to get better as an artist and add more mystique/uniqueness, strengthening her identity.

Oh well

Right?! Like yo, could you imagine the turn-out of that persona in the mainstream? She'd be a hit with everybody. Sex appeal would be high because that persona leaves more to the imagination and tends to be more sensual and passionate, with a bit of lust on the side. Women would flock to that shyt, and dudes would tune in and be mesmerized.

Imagine the performances that would've come outta stuff like this. :banderas: You could have the stage floor the Zodiac wheel, have the background lights stars, the possibilities are endless. Visuals would be out of this world, and the performance would've been captivating just off the strength of the stage alone.

But see, that's the price of going to a label before you have the power. Cause if she were indie, this all would've been possible. Now she's more or less painted as a "typical generic lightskin female singer" because of those pop trendy songs, and that's one hell of a box she put herself in. Rappers especially fall into this trap too, because they're too afraid to step out of the box and only want to do what's considered "cool". It's the ones who aren't afraid to be creative that are the ones who are still here years later. But, everyone else seems to be more concerned with making money, so them's the breaks, I guess. :yeshrug:

How did Bieber build his fanbase though? He just did some songs on YouTube, and White girls liked him instantly. I don't think he grinded much before Usher put him on.

I kinda feel bad for Tinashe.

I think they originally came to him because of his looks and his tween pop songs, but they stayed for him. Keep in mind, he became popular when the Disney crew were gaining popularity (Demi, Selena, Miley, Jonas Brothers, etc), and he was rubbing shoulders with them a lot. He also probably did stuff like live stream chats where he'd talk to his fans, follow them back on Twitter, and a bunch of Meet and Greets. It doesn't sound like much, but it's the little things that could mean a lot to someone else, especially a fan who adores that artist and hangs on every word they sing or rap. It shows they care.

Because of the platform that these people are on, sometimes we forget that these people are human beings too. Them taking the time out to respond to fans is their way of reminding others of that fact. It's like they're breaking the fourth wall almost, because celebrities seem so far away from us, it sometimes feel like it's not even real.

What happened with CB?

Apparently, she said that the collab between her and Chris wasn't her idea, it was the label's.

Just like 2on probably was

I remember when she got signed and put this up

I knew it was downhill, her music too different for label marketing. Should've linked up with Chance and stayed independent

Tinashe just doesn't have that "larger than life, transcend the general population" aura to her.

End of the day mega-artists are .0000000001% of the population. They're very apparent and just have that extra touch that common folks are intrigued about. It's not enough to have a decent voice, average dancing and an everyday pretty girl look if you really want to be on Rihanna's level of fame.

Seriously, the best thing she did was 2 On. While 2 On is a nice song, how much of that song being good had to do with her?

DJ Mustard was and is the real genius behind 2 On, don't get ahead of yourselves.

This. Bieber barely put in any work and he had Justin Timberlake and Usher competing against each other to sign him.

They just saw a cash cow that they could sell easily. White girls love white teenage male singers(jonas bros, aaron carter, jesse McCarthy, nsync).

That's the easiest demographic to sell to as long as you're tryna the sale them the right package.

Tinashe is just in a tight spot. Nowadays the only big time black female pop singers are beyonce and Rihanna. Everybody else is just there.

Tinashe is weak.... another mediocre lightskin bytch with a whiny ass voice, and cant really sing.... and her looks are overrated. :camby:

I miss the 90's where women could actually sing... not mediocre. :rudy:
