Yeah I can understand what Damon is saying, nobody wants to be preached to all the time.

Dave has a right to his opinion about whatever, but it seems like all he does these days is vent about politics.

The thing is Dave and Damon are two different types of comics. Dave is more in line with Paul Mooney and dikk Gregory where they teach and tell jokes. Often times there was more teaching than comedy.

shyt I seen Paul Mooney stand up in person about 10 times before he got sick and the brotha did exactly what Dave does. Do stand up for about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours discussing social, national, world issues and historical events that were important to him with comedy sprinkled in.

Then he would save the last maybe 10 minutes to do his famous punch line jokes about the nuns, god, jewish folks/nazis, klan members and etc.

Damon has never been that type of comedian. His shyt is straight comedy no philosophy or national or social issues.

I personally like deep thinking comedy done by black folks. So I will always prefer a dikk Gregory, Paul Moony, Pryor, Dave or Rock comedy stand up over any other type of comedian.

Watching Dave and shytting about his comedy now is like watching a Public Enemy concert and bytching that they ain't talking about gangsta shyt like Death Row. I mean you pretty much know what you are getting when you are watching PE so why are you surprised.

I can't believe supposed black people are really in here shytting on Damon Wayans (or Chappelle for that matter).
They have no equity in the culture. Even some black folk. They either too young or just wasn’t around. They wasn’t ‘there’ for in living color let alone last boy scout, Mo money, etc.

Back in the ‘1 at a time’ era Damon had black comedy on his back with the movie game. Every single comedian with box office success (and tv success) is a small fraternity and has a seat at the table to say wtf they want, and they should never be disrespected regardless of where their career goes. Damon, Eddie griffin, all them dudes are solidified forever

But anyway i digress—- a lot of these nggas wasn’t there, they just hopped on the Chappelle bus after chapelle show bc chapelle became black culture. They probably don’t even remember when Dave wasn’t a “black” comedian. So to them, ‘who is Damon wayans’

No great artist stays the exact same forever

Not in music, not in painting, not in acting
Ect

An artistic life is like any other thing in life, it has its eras and phases.

For better or worse this is Dave’s evolution

It's fair to criticize as long as you acknowledge what the films are
Problem is the official specials weren't that funny either and there were large segments where he was essentially doing a speech within the comedy special
Anything that gets released if fair game to be criticized, even speeches. I think as Dave releases more speeches people are going to get tired of them and criticize the content, especially if it's redundant as it's kind of been. I actually agree with him on the trans stuff but I'm at the point where I have very low desire to watch anything that he does due to his current trend

But he’s nowhere near as funny as Carlin (at this point in their careers) and he not really saying shyt by attacking LGBTQ shyt. nikkas don’t care about the shyt like that but his white friends do. Carlin even spoke on comedians doing what Dave doing by “punching down” and going after gays.

Dave still a GOAT and blessed us for years with comedic gold but nothing wrong with saying he fell off or not nearly as funny as he used to be. He in his 50s and rich as fukk.

Edit : why my shyt crossed out? :francis:
That’s the coli tellin u fukk everything u talkin bout

Facts

Dave always been on this wave..he’s just leaning into it more now.

Raw uncut commentary

Carlin was criticized the same way, about pretty much the same thing, in his later years.

Yep. I couldn't imagine these folks seen Paul Mooney in his 40s and 50s and 60s doing stand up. Dude use to lean in....he would take everyday events from the news and go in all show on folks. Every show I been to of his, I seen white folks get up and walk out the show and Paul would start rolling on stage. :pachaha:

One show I saw a white lady and her husband got up and walked out and cursed at Paul. Paul laughed (did that shyt with his mic where he hits his leg....that is also where Dave got it from) then Paul was like bye white folks you just mad cause we got away and can talk shyt to your asses now... :laff: :laff: :laff:

Check this out when I went to the show the white man and his wife spoke to me and my wife. They were like I have heard so much about him and we can't wait to see him. They then asked had we seen him and we were like yep many times. The white couple were like we are so excited and they walked to the front to sit by the stage.

:mjlol:

I looked at my wife and said.......these mothafukkas ain't gonna make it 30 minutes into the show...:lolbron:

Sure enough they were walking out cursing 20 minutes into the show....:laff::laff::laff::laff::laff:

Solid points. I went to see Last Boy Scout in theaters, so I was there and I disagree with Damon Wayans.

Still enjoyed his work though.
