You're blind if you don't think Gronk has detractors. Calling him universally loved is a flat out lie.

But there's nothing Gronk does that's really all that harmful. He stays out of trouble and enjoys getting laid.
The non "existence" of detractors is "my" argument?

Is that springboard of your argument? Something I never said?

Their existence and impact is minimal. They make up about 10% of the coverage he receives. If Gronk were black...I'm certain that number would be as high as 60

What have I deflected? That long winded non sensical post was a bunch of words without an iota of a point.
You know exactly what his point was. He said why are topics on race the only time you come into threads stating the insignificance of the topic? Nearly every topic on this board is not important in the grand scheme of things but it's only topics that deal with racism and difference in how races are treated in sports media that provoke you to question why we're talking about it. Why is that? Why don't you talk about the insignificance of other topics people post on here, why only race ones?

Sometimes Dan likes to unneccarily play the race card in certain situations just to have an uncomfortable coversations like this. In this discussion I think he was pointing out the media's hypocritical view between Marshawn and Gronk.

They concluded that since Gronk wins, he gets to be the lovable buffoon.

Because this specific topic is insignificant and an obvious attempt at click bait. Sorry you fell for it.

Interesting question, Barkley might be an even better example than Shaq. Granted he's devolved into a buffoon who talks down to black people, but I think he was loved even before that.
Interesting point, Barkley is probably even more relatable to Gronk than Shaq...

But let's not forget Barkley wasn't as lovable until he retired and got that TNT job.

I thought the topic revolved around the fans feelings towards Gronk. Lynch is pretty well received by fans imo. He's created a brand off of it.

Gronk seems like a cool ass dude, he's just having fun with his life. As he should, as long as it's nothing illegal.

That said, is it more accepted b/c he's white, sure of course. This is nothing new. IIn our society, Black ppl are forced to a different(higher) standard.

Black kids in the 50's/60's could be killed just for goofing off in public or whistling at a white woman, while white kids would have free reign to do both.

The punishments aren't the same anymore, but the mindset is.
