Nobody including Mahomes has been put sucked off more than Allen the last 3 years. He got more love for a playoff L than Lamar has ever gotten for anything. He's been held up as Mahomes rival, not Lamar.
Lamar and Mahomes haven't played each other as often, and this'll be their first times meeting in the playoffs. Mahomes has met both Burrow and Allen more than once...
So I think this week's game adds Lamar to the mix. Yes, he's had great regular seasons, but its the postseason where he needs to truly shine and cement himself, and he hadn't done that yet. Those other two guys have been better than Lamar in the playoffs (Burrow, Allen)...
No.. RC and most of us don't have an issue with Josh Allen. Nobody said it was his fault... Nobody said he sucks
The problem is the media has hyped this dude up to be number 2 in the league... And at times, was saying he was BETTER than Pat...
But when we look at the results, he ain't winning like Pat, he ain't getting to the Bowl like Burrow, he ain't winning MVPs like Lamar... I mean shyt... What has he ACCOMPLISHED?? One AFC title game? That's #2 to y'all?
Now add in the fact he's white, so it's assumed that's where this extra praise with zero criticism is coming from... And there you have the "hate." But what it really is, is people are sick and tiring of HEARING about this guy and never SEEING the accomplishments. Nobody else got to skip past winning.
Allen, Lamar, and Burrow are interchangeable. Neither have been consistent enough to put with Mahomes but all 3 are marginal to each other. Lamar can separate himself with a Super Bowl run, as then Allen would be the only guy of the trio to, 1)never have beaten Mahomes in the playoffs, and 2)never get to The Bowl; Lamar can separate himself further by winning it all...
Until and unless Lamar does that, he's in the same conversation as the other guys...
If a game comes down to a player who’s played well throughout the game not hitting a particular play, I don’t care to make a story around their capacity to win games. Especially as a coach. Failures leading up to that play created significance around that play.
I simply dont get the mentality of sports fans
I agree with not makinh it a story about one player, but my initial point, and my baseline premise, was a response to the video in OP, Ryan and Orlovsky saying Allen doesn't deserve any blame for the loss...
Any time anyone loses, there are multiple factors, and as fans, just like with executives and coaches, when a team loses, we ask why and talk about what could have been. This is hardly a new phenomena with sports talk...
The conversation in this thread has expanded but my initial point isn't to create a narrative about Josh, it's a response to those (many people, apparently), who are discussing the Bills losing and feel Allen had no hand in it. He did, and if we gonna do what sports heads have always done from the beginning of time, dissect the ins and outs of the game, then we can keep it 100 and talk about what Allen could have done better to win this game for Buffalo...
Bullshyt... Dan was on First Take after that overtime playoff loss talking about he was best on the field that day... Changed the damn rules for him
THEN the next season Dan was talking about "Pat is the best football player but Josh is the best QB in the league"
It's the exact time I started calling him Washed Allen and hating on him.. Dan did this to him!! But I know it wasn't just him... After he LOST that overtime game, mad people was saying he outplayed Pat and was the better QB.. It was he didn't have the weapons or defense or whatever excuse they keep handing him
He's not a better quarterback than Mahomes, but I do think he outplayed Mahomes in that game. At worst it was a draw. Conversely, I think Mahomes outplayed Hurts in the Super Bowl last year, but Hurts went blow for blow with him so I can see the argument for people who believe Hurts outplayed him...
Regardless, that '21 AFC Divisional was one game. We have an entire career to evaluate both guys, most of us recognize that Allen isn't better than Mahomes...
How is this thread still going
Delusional irrational coli bruhs calling out delusional irrational media ….calling delusional irrational ‘people on twitter’
Such a pointless discourse overall. Fans and media nowadays are just opps who hav had bodies drop so it’s an endless war. Your preferred QB got roasted before so now you roasting somebody else QB in literally every scenario other than a Super Bowl win (and even then he better win mvp)
Lamar doesn’t win a chip- what a failure this was the year
Purdy doesn’t win- couldn’t do it without Deebo, game manager
Goff doesn’t win- nice story but see you can’t win without an upgrade at qb
Mahomes doesn’t win- see, can’t win if he ain’t at home
No one is genuine anymore it’s all about validating a ‘take’ even if that take is from 5+ years ago this shyt is all trash
Bro, if the Ravens don't win it all it will be a failure. They've proven to have the best team in the NFL over 20 weeks of football. If Lamar plays well and they don't win he won't get crushed for it, but that team is so good they should be able to overcome a subpar performance from the quarterback (he wasn't all that last week)...
If they lose as a result of him playing poorly, he'll deserve to catch tge bullets from that...
Purdy is questionable period, he was bad last week until that final drive. People are gonna question him until and unless, he wins it all. This is fair if you watched him last week...
I don't understand the Goff criticism and have been vocal about it for years. At his best he plays like a Top 5 quarterback, he's always healthy and he's almost always consistent. You can do a lot worse than Goff, and sure there'll be plenty of people who question him if Detroit loses. They shouldn't though, I agree with you on Goff...
We all know Mahomes is legit. I can speak for myself, my only push back with Mahomes is the assertions that he's a perfect quarterback, that he's unbeatable, or that he's the best I've ever seen, all of these are "takes" repeated millions of times on TV and on here. I'll always push back on THOSE SPECIFIC THINGS, because I don't believe any of them to be true and I maintain that...
We've seen him play poorly and lose. We know he the real deal though, so if he plays well and they lose, no one is killing him. Its not outta the realm of possibility he plays bad though, we've seen it...
