Unless Russell turns into an elite shooter there's nothing that suggests that he will be anything more than solid.
Which is okay if he wasn't the number two pick. Also, okafor will have a long stretch of his career where he's gonna put up 20 and 10. Hell he could do it this year with a shytty team. So that will make Russ look worse

how many times do we gotta say it...its not about his fukking stats its how he fukking plays :mindblown:

look rookie derrick rose can go fukkin 0-20 in a summer league game for all I care. If he is blowing by the defense, beating his man off the dribble, drawing contact and getting to the foul line, then that's all I need to see. All 20 shots can rim out and all the lay ups can hit the back iron for all I care. I've seen what I needed to see.

posted it before but here it is...0:10-0:21

thats all I need to see

We getting on D'angela because he has shown nothing. He looks very slow and very unathletic. We can clearly see why he kept saying his comp was Manu before his agent told him to start saying Steph Curry. D'angela knows exactly who he is. He knows his strengths and weaknesses. He knows damn well he is shocked that he is in this position. He knows damn well he was thinking about OSU as a 3-4 year plan. He came their and unloaded his bags and just so happen to play well his first year. D'angela was like 4th option on Montverde, literally nobody was checking for dude until college.

His strengths were suppose to be shooting the 3 and passing the ball. So far he hasn't show that. He has looked like an undrafted free agent tbh.

That is like John Wall strength being his speed and athleticism in college and all of a sudden in summer league he is walking like he has 20 pounds ankle weights on him. We would be looking like him with the :wtf: face

ANYWAY...back to this DS2

Mudiay and Towns looked the part tho. All of these Rookies will have games where they are out there looking like shyt but you will see the flashes and the "if he can get this thing right, watch out" like Young Bron and his jumper. With Russell its his ability to get by people that he needs to get right and idk if that is possible. Mudiay was as advertised = a strong guard who can drop dimes but has a broke ass jumper. Towns was as advertised, a smooth athlete with size that can stretch the floor...Russell was billed as this knockdown shooter who has moxie and can get buckets....and well he struggled at that..the fact that he shot just as bad as Mudiay is not a thing that can be placed in his favor..Mudiay's shyt is broke..Russell's was not supposed to be.

That being said...its way to early and even if its not a good look, he broke out a bit in the last game. He's too smart to be complete ass and he seems like a kid who will work hard. Plus he'll be like the 3rd option for a while so he can just pick his spots unlike if he went to Philly and had to be the main option from day one. He's 19 and while I doubt he's ever out here yammin on people, he will get stronger and the game will slow down a lot. Still the reason people are clowning him (besides being on the Lakers), is because he was hyped up as the next great scoring gawd and he shot like shyt and struggled to get his shot off.

People really want to see Russell fail..it's hilarious. And people clinging to the "he cant get passed anyone" narrative...I mean for

1) it's not true. He blew by his defender multiple times in SL

2) even if it was true. His jumper is on point so it won't prevent him from creating for others or getting buckets

Basically yall are hating and deluding yourselves into believing false narratives.

He'll look better surrounded by legit guys who can finish plays. He hit Brown/Black with numerous good passes that those dudes didn't finish. I'm not that worried about his shot.

@I AM WARHOL Let the record show I think D Lo is gonna be really good.

His shot looked fine. The problem was his shot selection. I think it will take a Lil time and strength for him to get nba 3 range but his jump shot was unstoppable all summer league in the mid range coming off of picks. I keep seeing people on here say that he really showed nothing in the summer league is a lie. He is already a beast in PNR at 19 shooting or facilitating, his biggest flaws to me where that he was trying to force alot of plays and trying to make great plays instead of smart plays
