While promoting the upcoming season of Total Divas, Brie Bella noted that her husband, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, will not need a second surgery. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and is slowly gaining strength back in his right arm. The arm was a major concern for both Bryan and doctors, as for months after his original surgery, he had very little feeling or strength in the appendage.

As of right now, when Bryan will be able to return to the ring is still unknown. The hope is that he will be back by the end of 2014, and are shooting for three months. That would put him back in December, prior to the WWE TLC pay-per-view, but if he needed more time a surprise return at the 2015 Royal Rumble could of course be a possibility.

We will continue to update Daniel Bryan’s status as more information becomes available.

The earliest Bryan should be thinking about returning is Extreme Rules 2015. Unless he wants to be done with in-ring performing by 2016.

On the one hand, I see your point. You really shouldn't mess around with nerve injuries and, even if he fully heals from this, he should still see retirement as an option.

On the other hand, if he's healthy, why not come back at the Royal Rumble, get your proper title run, then spend the rest of your contract creating future stars with your credibility and eventually ride into the sunset by 2016/17? Dude's been wrestling for all of his adult life, an early retirement (as long as it's not forced by deteriorating health a la Edge) would not be a bad thing even if he comes back at full strength.

Because WWE's creative has been a half step above complete shyt for awhile. Don't trust them to do right by Daniel as long as Cena and part timers are still available. And since Daniel is not active during the WM planning season (Sept - Dec), him coming back at the Rumble could possibly(99.9% sure) be a total custerfukk .

Extreme Rules 2015 will be better because it is not your typical "return" PPV. Its coming fresh off of WM and hopefully the title will be off Part-time Lesar. Also, it will give WWE a bit more time to put some REAL thought into possible angles/storylines for Daniel and Daniel some more healing time
.

I don't trust them; one can hope however.

Just because he isn't active during the planning season (a bit of a misnomer since we all know how Vince is with "planning") doesn't mean that he can't be planned for, especially if he has a set timetable for his return.

Also, consider the fact that, when he comes back, people are going to be DYING for him to get a proper run with the belt. If you're trying to make, say, Roman Reigns a top guy, then the absolute worst thing you could do is have him beat Lesnar only for the guy that the fans perceive as not having gotten his proper run to come back RIGHT afterward. It'd kill the rub that he got from the win and hamstring his push. Better to get Bryan's win and run out of the way so you can sate the fans and properly plan for others such as the Shield trio.
