THE ONE
You gotta understand this too.. Delroy been in the states for 40 plus years....so of course, he is heavily influenced by American black swag\culture..... he is the actor version of Slick Rick to me
I cant even hear it

dude literally plays the same role in every movie. just the movie title and his characters name changesJD Washington could do in the role.
Yup... Brilliant actor too.... has nothing to do with the theme of the thread tho
"My noime is Fred 'Ampton,Powah tew me blokes."

That's too much a stereotype. Oyelowo did the MLK accent just fine in Selma. Chiwetel Ejiofor was good in 12 Years a Slave. Idris in The Wire. Delroy Lindo in Malcolm X.all the brits use the same voice to talk like BA
they either try to sound like some generic deep voiced Black male, or accent it up by immitating their Nonados "americanized" cousin who they heard speak at the family reunion and talk like a Black NYer.
they can never replicate Midwest Black slang, Westcoast slang, let alone Southern slang
As some have pointed out the one who did imitate a non-NY slang(snowfall guy) needed a coach to teach him.
Yeah, I have no problem with people criticizing the accent if they don't like it. At least those who actually know what Fred Hampton sounded like. I'm only calling out the dumb fake militant takes.Exactly. Brehs should know i aint on that diaspora war foolishness
I been the main one going at the heads of these ADOS fools over this foolishness. But that don't mean I can't make valid criticisms about someone not having a believable accent in a movie
You really talking about a few scenes...?
nikka do this.... List the 150 movies of all time... GLOBAL... and see how many black brits are the prize winner.... Brits do drama better.... America hasn't stressed drama for 30 years at least.... but Brits still on that wave....... I'll wait for you not to list that all time great film list.....and do these British actors that get roles in America come from humble backgrounds.......?
Idris.
I didn't know he was a British dude either but I knew something was off.
Pardon me though breh. I got that crown apple in me and might come off more hostile that Intended

The nikkas turning this into some Diaspora war/ADOS shyt must not know who OP is

As an historical aside, the (white) lindo family were once the biggest slave traders in Jamaica, owning several transatlantic ships and all that, with branches in London, Amsterdam, and venice iirc. (I was researching Jewish involvement in the slave trade.)
I saw the movie last night.
Accent isn’t too bad. Since he's English, the accent was always going to be scrutinized extra.
The movie has bigger issues than Kaluuya's accent. I'll watch it again but I wanted more.
