D’Antoni would be a great hire to bring the team to prominence.

He would make them a must watch national TV team and raise their ceiling.

It would be an interesting phase of his career he might also be able to instill the discipline in the Hornets they are like the leagues Gen Z team.

D’Antoni offense with Miles and ‘Melo would be dope to watch. Could get them into the playoffs and over the first round jump, but eventually another coach will have to be brought in to turn them into any sort of true contender in the East.

What are you talking about win chips? Mike has literally never had a consistent playoff team under his ownership. Making the playoffs every year would be a great start. You can’t expect everyone to go from 0 to 100.
Regardless, Dan tony won’t get you to win. He will just keep you on a treadmill, best case.

D’Antoni has coached multiple teams that have went to the Western conference finals. The most Jordan has seen as an owner is a second round exit (I think, it’s possible they haven’t even accomplished that).

You do understand that a championship isn’t the only thug you can “win” in this league? Or is your argument that it’s better to just go for mid lottery picks and play in games?

I realize that. I just asked the question. The fact of the matter is, he will make the hornets a treadmill team. Especially considering how much better the east is, and Dan Tony’s rigid coaching style (unable to adjust). He also runs players to the ground playing 7-8 man rotations throughout the regular season. All I’m saying. I also don’t think spamming PnR with LaMelo/Bridges and shooting a ton of threes isn’t gonna get it done.

When I see the young dudes on the Hornets wildin I’m kinda surprised at Mike

I would have expected him to be one of the strictest owners

And if/when he gets us to treadmilling in the playoffs then we can look for a coach that can take the team to the next level :manny:Borrego was a development/culture change guy that did his job and hit a wall. Its not like coaches are lifetime appointments.

There less than a handful of coaches in the NBA *historically* that take a team from a rebuild all the way to championship contention too.

I actually think Dantoni would be better off in a small market considering how he caught shyt from all sides in NY and LA. shyt, Iirc Houston had a top 5 team on both sides of the ball before Harden and Ariza choked in game 7.

He used to be like that when the Hornets were his main focus. Overall its been great since he stepped back to let folks breathe a bit.

Now he just pops in every few weeks to show his disgust then heads back down to the NASCAR track :mjlol:

i wonder if Mike is tryna win chips or just make the playoffs and be on the treadmill

because that's what he's gonna get if he chooses D'Antoni. Dan Toney will put the ball in LaMelo's hands and just play harden ball/nash ball
They're not gonna win chips regardless so I'd actually go with Pringles
His system would turn LaMelo into a superstar and you'd hope people would actually eventually want to come over to play with him through trades or free agency. That's when you dump D'Antoni

D’-antoni may be able to unlock Ball. I think the hornets are hard to deal with when he’s running the show, similar to Luka.

He’ll never commit to defense. Might as well try to outscore everyone
