Dantoni would have the warriors scoring 150 per game

In the playoffs the tempo is always more likely to favor Memphis.

On paper it would, but all you need is hot shooting and you can beat anyone. GSW is never going to be an elite squad defensively. Never, not with their personnel. They're better off going all in and trying to run a 7 seconds or less type offense, but I question whether Steph the Turnover Machine could run point in a system like that without disastrous results.

They have a shot blocker in Bogut (when he's healthy), and versatile top tier defender in Iggy, and Thompson is a more than capable defender. If you can't play defense you can't win, period. You aren't gonna be hot from 3 for 7 straight games. Even the best teams have lulls, if you don't have defense to fall back on during those lulls you are screwed.

Norfeast groovin…
Personally I think f'ucktoni belongs with the rockets, but I'd love to see him destroy the warriors. Maybe even drive out Logo so he can finish his basketball life serving his GOAT franchise.

Ok, and? They turn the ball over way too much and they shoot jumpers all game. You can't expect defense to bail you out when defensively you're not that great to begin with, and your offensive system is just standing around spotting up while one guy runs pick and rolls flinging up shots and throwing up floaters. Iggy is a good defender, but he has very little impact on the game aside from that. They just have to make do with what they have. I'm not saying they have to throw the idea of a defensive philosophy in the bushes, but they should ALWAYS put way more emphasis on their offense because that's what wins them games. They're too small to play halfcourt ball with teams. Look at what the Clippers did to close them out. Fed their bigs and exploited their lack of size and Warriors were helpless to do anything. David Lee looked like a toddler trying to guard Deandre.

Boguts fakkit ass is always going to be hurt when it matters so they're going to be stuck playing small ball eventually. Might as well get the GOAT small ball offensive mind either as an assistant or head coach because Mark Jackson saying hail marys and trying to summon Christ in huddles isn't going to cut it

Then you have a flawed team that no one will take seriously in terms of winning a title :yeshrug:

:yeshrug: That's what the Warriors are, a very, very flawed team, and that's why it's unfortunate for M-Jax that his homosexual front office thinks he's coaching a title contender, because if the Warriors make the Western Finals it would be a miracle in of itself. I do agree that M-Jax is not the X's and O's mind the Warriors need, but if the players like him, you gotta keep him. Happy, motivated players is the most important thing because at the end of the day, it's talent and being on the right side of the gun that wins games. Chemistry is vital.

How do people not understand this :mindblown:

Memphis isn't ever winning shyt playing that brand of basketball in this era. If you don't have elite wings or great shooting, you're not winning anything no matter how fast you play or how slow you play.

Tempo just means you're trying to get to A and B a different way, you only play one way or another because you either lack wings or you lack post players.

The Warriors and Grizzlies are like two equally flawed teams, but they're exact opposites of each other from a philosophy and strength standpoint.

You can play defense and still play fast on the other side of the ball.

The last two seasons are as far as they can go focusing on offense. In order to beat teams like SA, OKC, LA you gotta be able to play D otherwise they will just be the early 2000's Mavs...a team that wins 50 each year by outscoring teams and gets bounced in the 2nd round at the latest.

Dwight's in HOU, so that alone means no D'antoni in HOU

the part about dantoni that i dont respect is he has a system that needs certain personel ........why would he accept lakers and knicks gig when its clear they had no interest in implementing his 7 second or less system........GS is his best chance at it though. its an intruiging thought

I agree they need better defense, but they can still get a lot better offensively, and a lot of that comes from coaching. Barnes is an instant offensive upgrade over Iggy. Let him grow so they have another scorer. Some of it is personnel movement. They miss Carl Landry and Jarrett Jack a lot.

I thought the Warriors were deeper last year, and I thought they were more offensively potent.

I can't prove it, but i have a feeling Mike Mallone being absent has a little to do with some of their issues this season.
