i prefer muddy waters easily.

even reggie himself has said that he was in a dark place and on so many drugs that he doesn't like to revisit that album in any way and won't even listen to it.

i'm with mobb deep on this one, that nikka was way too spaced out on dare...although i say that "can't wait" is the best song from either album.

i've probably answered differently every time this question comes up...so i'll just say he had a crazy run with those first 3 albums cause i honestly can't choose...

I would throw in Docs Da Name as well, not as a Classic per se but a Dope Ass Red Album tho

Depends on mood. Both are excellent. But I prob listen to DIAD more. I just love the dark vibe that album has. I believe red said he was doing a lot of acid around this time period and it kind of shows in the music

Yea ill throw on Darkside more than Muddy since it has more of a Smoked Out feel to it:smoker:,plus hearing him say he was on Acid making it made me appreciate it more
I remember just playing the hell out of the Solid Red Tape in 6th Grade......

Its Crazy he doesnt want to revisit,if theres any album that deserves the XXL Behind the Album treatment its that

When muddy waters dropped, that album blew me the fukk away

A lot of personal memories with that album too:wow:

Dare was fire also, but for me the answer was instant and that's no disrespect to dare.

i think Dare Iz A Darkside is BETTER but i have to be in a certain mood to play it all the way through whereas i can throw on Muddy Waters almost any old time & let it ride. DIAD is much more of a cohesive, concept type album where you have to let it play IMO

Muddy waters is 1 of my fav albums ever. So if I had to that would be it.

But that red tape was nothing to be fukked with. I played the hell out of that album. I'm glad you reminded me if these shyts. I'm going to put them on my iPhone right now!

Oh and I got add that illegal The Untold truth Album.

I'm just glad I grew up in the era of those albums.

Yeah, I feel the same. the "theme" of the album puts it slightly above Muddy IMO, feels more consistent throughout. Red's first 3 jawns are incredible though. Eric and Rockwilder laced him.

DIAD I'm in awe of that album. The.lyrics and production were so tight. I often wonder how it actually got made the lyrics are so dense. Also redmans peak came right after funkadelic the song off e sermons ep. He is prob in my top 10 MCs.
Reminds me I should start buying t s with the cover of dope 90 albums

Dare IZ a Darkside is more special to me, personally, but Muddy Waterz was technically his best album. Lots of material and no skippable tracks really....skits were entertaining as hell too.

I prefer Dare simply because of the time period when it came out....that red cassette :ohlawd:
