funny thing is the Bucs roster was a grease fire two years ago....they drafted well, made some nice signings and now have a good team.

things change quickly in the NFL and most non QB's are expendable....esp players asking for 16 mill a season playing a position that doesnt score points or alter field position

revis doesnt alter field position but he sure does alter field coverage

the 2 most difficult positions on the defense to find is pass rusher and cb and now the jets dont have either

the teams in the playoffs making runs last season all got it done with B, B+ corners...

This is one of the reasons I gave up my season tickets in 2005 and stripped all my Jets shyt down...I do not want my son following me down this same rode of demonic misery...The only Jets related thing I haven't sold or stuffed in a box and buried in the attic is my Curtis Martin jersey...Last time I wore it was the Colts AFCCG...

Gotta stop the vicious cycle of Jet fandom with the next generation :ohlawd:

you're being too generous with those grades

You cant play defense anymore

Phil Simms said it well on the radio recently he said the Niners looked up and down their defense at good player after good player and realized we still cant shut teams down anymore we have to outscore teams to win in this league which is why they went to Kapernick you cant win without making big plays anymore

It's all about getting pressure with your front 7 in this league...

Even if you had Deion, Revis and Lott out there with today's pussified offense centric rules if you give these QB's 3 seconds to analyze the field they will tear you up...Look at the Giants squads that beat the Patriots...The Giants secondary was borderline trash in both super Bowl runs (especially the second run)...Their fronts ability to get to Brady and disrupt his timing with his receivers was the difference...

Putting it lightly.

They hit a double or HR with nearly every pick, much of their core from the draft, made a big time FA signing and now (gasp) are paying $16 mil a year for a top notch CB, let alone the rest of their secondary.

It's on Idzik to essentially do what the Bucs, Seahawks, and Colts have done and that's pretty much get a ton of picks, at the top and at the bottom right, on top of that doing it with the same scouts and personnel that were responsible for getting Tanny to draft the same crap we've had all these years. Good luck Idzik.

Here's a scenario for you (Holmes and Fez aren't going anywhere for a year)

say we draft Geno, and do what you think they should.

Jets go 3-13 and are in a position to draft Bridgewater, Manziel, Boyd, Logan Thomas.

U passing any of them up to keep Geno?
The Panthers drafted Jimmy Clausen a couple years ago. Didn't stop them from taking Cam Newton the next season.

We go 1-15 and draft Clowney

Thomas is a bum, Geno compares favorably with the other 3.
Logan Thomas is a work in progress, but the potential is there.

Bridgewater & Boyd >>>>>>>>>>>>> Geno

Jimmy Clausen was a 2nd round pick. Still a hit, but not the kind of hit it would be if you drafted a first round QB only to replace him with another first round QB.

2nd round picks are just as big of a hit. If you're picked in the 1st round, you need to be able to step in right away and produce immediately. Carolina coulda used that 2nd pick to fill other needs instead of essentially wasting it on Clausen.

That being said, the point I'm tryna make is that if a QB is horrible, he is horrible. And there is no shame in immediately trying to find his replacement. Carolina did this, and it panned out for them in a big way.
