Well there are some Star Wars characters who were "dead" (or at least we were lead to believe they were dead) and then they came back.
Palpatine, Boba Fett, several Jedi (if you count force ghosts), Maul himself in Episode 1, etc. But obviously they don't do it to ridiculous DBZ levels where EVERYBODY comes back.

Goku got his ass kicked by Android 19. Cell he was clowning before he decided to test himself with allowing cell becoming perfect. The same would have happened to Goku without Super Sayian God.

Goku was only losing because he had heart problems at the time, otherwise Android 19 would've easily gotten that work. As far as Cell, Vegeta has nobody to blame but himself for that.
