I got love for DC Dave but this summary kind of shows just how out of touch and how self absorbed he was about his return.
First of all, with wrestling or any sort of return, timing is everything. If he didn't know that, its his fault for not paying attention. He chose to come back during the WrestleMania build up for WM30, arguably the biggest ever but didn't seem have any sort of perspective on the fan mentality or the product direction. We had just spend 3 consecutive years of returning stars, all of which are bigger names than Batista is/was. There was a HUGE divide amongst the audience who wanted homegrown workers vs. Superstars with a good look to the point the fans were forcing the WWE's hand. It started with CM Punk and trickled down to Daniel Bryan, the fans weren't just going to accept another one of "their guys" getting screwed over for the "Returning superstar of the year".
I get Batista wanted to make HIS return and be the returning superstar but his timing couldn't have been worse. The fact he chose WM30 showed he was more concerned about the hype, press and money or else he would have returned at a Battleground PPV or even Summerslam instead. He came back not looking the same, noticeably smaller and while he was gone, the bar of in ring expectations had been raised to a level he couldn't consistently do.
And on the security escorting him out... that sucks but its standard practice for high level employee leaving on less than ideal circumstances.
Fourth, the WWE had been on a youth movement, he should have expected to do jobs instead of going over on everyone
