A friend of mine lives in one of the those affordable houses with her daughter. Looks like any other house in the neighborhood. She doesn't fukk up anything for anything.
Before she lived there my Highschool Football coach lived there. He eventually got his finances together and bought bigger house.
Can you give context on what is happening? Dave said they were shunning a $65 million company for a $24 million company. Is the $24 million company the one that’s bringing the affordable housing? What are the arguments for and against it? TIA.

Rich people hate poor people no matter the race. I don't really care about this. Just be ready to deal with the other issues when you don't provide some type of housing for poor people (no, telling them to get money is not the answer).

Here’s a good article that breaks down the affordable housing scam:

Empty Promises: Developers Often Don't Deliver

highlights:

A WAMU investigation of 110 D.C. developments that received $1.7 billion in subsidies found:

  • Flaws with benefits pledged for about half
  • A third missed requirements on hiring local businesses, or the city didn’t have paperwork for them
  • Another 15 percent downsized or delayedbenefits, costing the city millions in lost revenue and others arguably didn’t need the subsidy in the first place
  • Less than 5 percent of the subsidies approved were for the city’s poorest areas, wards 7 and 8.
More highlights:

Promises at the Arthur Capper and Carrollsburg public housing complex in Southeast D.C. go back more than a decade.

When developers wanted to rebuild the area, they said the complex’s 707 public housing units would be replaced one-for-one, there’d be a state-of the-art recreation center with a daycare, and 50 families would get to actually buy homes with help from federal funds, according to the development’s 2001 application for funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

But after more than 10 years — and $90 million in government subsidies — half of the public housing units have been replaced, and a fifth of the former families are back. There’s no community center to replace the one torn down years ago. And three low-income families purchased homes with federal vouchers, not 50.

What is there now, among other things, are million dollar homes and parking lots for the baseball stadium nearby.

:mjlol:
shyt like this is why I refuse to rush to judgement.

Yeah, I'm in the burbs in Chicago that I grew up in. Got older and decided to get a house and raise my kids here. It's important to fight for their communities because at the end of the day, the local politicians in a lot of cases aren't looking out for the town's best interests.

People have to take pride in their neighborhoods and if you not rocking with a proposal or the direction that any legislation is throwing out there, you gotta organize and act. Hop on Nextdoor and you'll see people speaking up about their community's issues all the time. As you get older, you pay attention to this shyt a hell of a lot more.
Making sure every member of the town has an affordable place to live is absolutely in the towns best interests. You don’t make laws based on what the minority group wants. It’s dereliction of duty to do shyt like that and why this country is fukked up now

Chappelle is doing everything in his power to destroy the image people had of him. It's like he saw Kanye do it and thought it looked cool or it's some new long-form version of 'The Aristocrats' joke
It’s because the image y’all had of him was something you made up on your own. Dave has always leaned towards being on some c00n shyt.

The funny thing about life is how your views change.

I would be 100% against Dave before i had kids and owned property. Its different now. Like my area is "affluent" and mostly black. My community is always fighting against zoning for liquor stores, check cashing places, Family Dollars, hookah bars, affordable housing and cheap apartments.

Young Keond would be for all those things, but as i get older, i realize they wouldn't even think of putting those things in the white side of my county. Its like they want to dump all of that shyt over by us to help ghettoize my area because they see the demographics and figure we dont care.

Affordable housing is code word for Section 8 and everything that they bring. All coli bullshyt aside, nobody wants to have a expensive house next to no apartments in metro atlanta. Im just speaking facts, taking the emotion out of it.
Are you really conflating liquor stores/check cashing with affordable housing :hhh:

Liquor stores and check cashing are to keep people in poverty, affordable housing is to assist people in moving to the middle class. Yall Coli brehs go more Republican with every post

ATL to MEM
You have to know the specifics because affordable housing could mean anything from normal apartments , duplexes, down to section 8 and trailer parks. Ive seen 1st hand what happens when you flood an area with section 8. If i got word that shyt was in the works around me id be up at them town halls too.

Did Dave's word kill this law/proposal or did the majority of the people that lived out there oppose it?

Also, depending on the town/neighborhood laws get passed because people living there don't know what's at stake. And the only way to prevent shyt like that happening is for people to object it. My neighborhood installed red light cameras, do you really think the "majority" of people who live here want that?

They tried to put a gun shop at the Publix shopping center some years ago bruh: :francis:

Went to the council meetings and we got that shyt :camby: after threatening litigation and shyt.

They thought "we" didn't know any better but forgot the type of nikkaz that lived in our neighborhood. :smugfavre:

Tried to compare our neighborhood with some shyt in Marietta by another gun shop the owner had. Dem homes were in the low hunnids and he talkin about it wouldn't bring down prop value or have mufukkaz trying to break into the shop. :beli:

Cacs always trying to be slick.

Yeah, nikkas just want to be outraged. If you don't live there or any town that is having this proposed, then you really can't speak on it.

There's a lot of ramifications that can negatively impact a neighborhood due to an influx of "affordable housing". One thing that happened since I graduated HS in my area, was more Section 8 housing... which then impacts the schools and school districts. Now you look up, and the high schools all went to shyt and everybody is like, "how did this happen, It wasn't like that when we were there".

It's really not a black and white thing, it's something that's case by case. People really be thinking in a utopian mindset like if you do this and give that, everything will be better, completely ignoring reality and historical outcomes.
