This is why you don’t see any other Black entertainers who make it to that level speaking/acting out in that manner. Because there’s no protection once you do all this.
Again, Chappelle literally ran to another continent because he realized what was happening, wasn’t down for it and feared for his life when TBTB basically put a target on his back.
He knows better than ANYONE else who is running things and who not to talk about.
Certain communities have a high presence in certain fields. That’s fine. They happen to have lots of power in those fields as well. That’s fine, too.
OUR issue is that while we may have a high presence in certain fields (well really, one- entertainment), we don’t have lots of POWER in any fields.
It’s not the fault of those communities that we don’t have power. And it isn’t their obligation to happily share that power. That’s the real.
It seems like a lot of Black men are just coming to the realization of where our community as a whole stands in relation to everyone else.
Understanding the importance of being a good person is definitely something to strive for, but until the day this place turns into a utopia, people need to open their eyes and realize a big part of this life is about grabbing resources for your group.
This is why some people think religion has been a mental prison for some Black folks and made us docile.
Every other group practices their religion AND group economics AND group exclusivity (AND racism Lol).
Even with the “stop asian hate” campaign. No one was getting canceled at this level for anything disparaging/offensive to their community.
Everyone knows what it is.

Not the fault of them as a whole, but is it mere coincidence that we continually get exploited by mainly the same people? It’s easy to say black people should just smarten up. We’re a broken people and a lot of those who are in power take advantage of our desperation to get out of a rut. An extremely talented black person with a few hundred dollars to their name is offered a deal where they will be given $1M off the bat, they’re not gonna have the foresight to see how they will get screwed on the back end, ESPECIALLY if they don’t have knowledge of the business, and the people advising them it’s a good deal are in cahoots with the same ones who offered the contract.
Oh- ABSOLUTELY. Of course I get it. I’m in this, too.
What I’m saying is, looking at this objectively, from the perspective of all other groups: Ok, and?
