The comic began his set to wild applause from the crowd at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford, delivering an opening routine which candidly addressed changes in both pop culture and himself, since his 2005 split with Comedy Central and subsequent disappearance from the mainstream.However, several audience members became increasingly disruptive, which visibly bothered Chappelle, and the comedian put his act on hold in an effort to quiet the vocal audience members. This lead to more hecklers joining an increasingly loud crowd, which resulted in Chappelle abandoning his material and sitting quietly on a stool in the center of the stage, explaining that he had been contracted for a 25-minute performance and he would simply wait for the time to be up and then leave.True to his word, amidst more boos and heckles from an increasingly angry audience, Chappelle put down his microphone and left the stage, indicating he would “never come back here [to Hartford].”
Hartford Police dispatched extra patrols to the Comcast Theatre as a precaution.

I could never understand the mindset of a heckler. Like them cats be on some "i'm going to disrupt everyone ahving a good time with my personal gripe against the performer."

i remember at a Kweli and Nas Show at Toads Place back in the day.. Jay Electronica opened for them.. and the crowd bood and bood and heckled the dude.. he got so pissed HE was like "IM FROM NEW ORLEANS I DONT HAVE TO TAKE THIS shyt" and he ran off stage like a bytch..like when adam sandler couldnt write rizzuto on the blackboard in billy madison...

Heckling is a big part of stand-up comedy and it can either make or break a set. Some of the best moments come from hecklers getting ethered by comedians. All this shows to me is that Dave Chappelle needs to stay the hell away from comedy at this point because he's been on some bullshyt ever since he came back. He's acting like a teacher telling the class to shush and not like a comedian. And wtf is up with the "serious" material? It's a comedy set - be funny or It's no wonder he got heckled when he wants to go on life-reflecting rants when people paid good money to hear jokes.

Just because I've heard his Stand Up has been real questionable of late and its been more of him going off on rants than actually telling jokes...

Dude is probaly still my favoritie comedian but at this point I'm not interested in hearng about him leaving comedy central and all that shyt. That was damn near 10 years ago, I'm over it now.

I just wish he'd do a Stand Up comedy special for HBO or even one to released in theaters..

I'd be pissed if I paid like $50+ for him to tell jokes for like 10mins and then just sit there and walk out regardless if he was being heckled or not.
