His street shyt doesn’t seem like it’s…how should I say…legitimate? Real surface level shyt. It’s like he’s pressing to be seen in a certain light for some reason. He’s always been a borderline mystery considering the street nikka lane he’s chasing

Listening to this again and ‘Type of Time’ and ‘Don’t Shoot’ are peak Dave East songs back when this drop you couldn’t tell me he wasn’t going to be the next ‘real hip hop’ superstar

Why didn’t he just keep making music like this? He would’ve been much bigger by now.

His voice changed from excessive smoking, he rapped about everything he had to rap about and oversaturated himself with mixtapes, his hunger decreased as rap opened up more ventures for him, he fell out with Wayno who was managing him, he started chasing trends more, he became a super Crip, Def Jam had too much influence for his debut album…

His voice is an issue and his pen is lazy and inconsistent now he’s still a good beat picker though and has never dropped a bad project

‘15-‘18 Dave East was a dope ass MC that should have been embraced more but fukk it. U see it in this project how much more conscious and conceptual his shyt was. He’s really on some ignorant super gangsta shyt now. Also feel like the Buda & Grandz production fit him like a glove.
