His voice changed from excessive smoking, he rapped about everything he had to rap about and oversaturated himself with mixtapes, his hunger decreased as rap opened up more ventures for him, he fell out with Wayno who was managing him, he started chasing trends more, he became a super Crip, Def Jam had too much influence for his debut album…
His voice is an issue and his pen is lazy and inconsistent now he’s still a good beat picker though and has never dropped a bad project
‘15-‘18 Dave East was a dope ass MC that should have been embraced more but fukk it. U see it in this project how much more conscious and conceptual his shyt was. He’s really on some ignorant super gangsta shyt now. Also feel like the Buda & Grandz production fit him like a glove.

After this he got too focused on chasing the girl song.. he had a real spark for 3 straight projects.

I contribute that more to him not putting in the same effort as he did into his music around the Kairi Chanel and Black Rose era
His shyt just don't hit the same and his music has diminished flow wise, content wise, and most of all creatively.
He did an album with Styles P so I doubt his street background deserves any question. A lot of his friends died to the streets too, so I don't doubt that part.
It's more so the effort he's putting forth, and he's doing more than one thing, which I applaud but the music has diminished.

no disrespect to you but this seems surface level. Styles loves rap so if you show a love for rap as well I doubt he’ll turn you away. It’s not like SP is making drill music. Styles did not grow up with Dave so It’s not like he could speak to that. The idea he’s had friends that died…If you’re black living certain places who hasn’t it? lol

On the real tho, him having songs like don’t shoot, and slow down on here, and the fact he was able to keep up on tracks with Game and Beans showed how good of a artist he was becoming.
You’re 100 percent right on him over saturating himself. His topics are too limited for multiple 16-18 track mixtapes.
