Show not doing it for me this season. I understand it’s darker and not trying to be as funny, but it’s not really original and comes off as biting Atlanta even harder but not nearly as clever. Plus there aren’t really any likeable characters apart from Gata.
Season 1 was 5 mics…I watched it twice

I’m not feeling this season at all.

Why? It’s steps leading to bounds. (Keeping my fingers crossed)

I think the storyline is being played out really well. A couple hiccups… but the overall idea is being executed well. IMO.
The deterioration of Dave’s relationships and unromanticized moments might be turning folks off from it, especially those that think they’ll be getting those bright laugh out loud moments from the first season. I love the overall theme here and think it’ll culminate into something special, but I can see why it’s a jarring watch for some.

This stretch of episodes are going to pay huge dividends for the third season.

Exactly! I’m watching this show like I’m expecting 5 seasons worth of material coming.

I agree. I think season 2 is EXTREMELY strong.

this is probably one of the best shows on TV right now.

I think Elz is being a dikk to Dave because he’s gotten bigger. He’s producing and going on tour with bigger acts and probably just feels all the LD shyt is beneath him now. Like DJing at a bar mitzvah after being on tour with trippy redd is some shyt he shouldn’t be doing.
Sorry didn't watch the new ep until last nite. It was the best ep of Dave so far. Following Gata during his car troubles was excellent TV. The camera use and mood created was very anxiety inducing. My wiz swore Gata was about to get clapped, robbed or something else horrible.
I think you are closest to what is going on with Elz regarding him and Dave. He is over being under Lil' dikky a guy with some joke records and no album. He is doing bigger things now and Dave tries to always bring him down to his level or even worse under Dave. He's done with that dynamic, also I think this is some tough love for Dave. Elz is trying to get his head out of his ass. Dave has a deal and one horrible ethnically insensitive record and no album and that shyt is way past due and Dave is still trying to act like he's the man. Na B, you need to get fukkin' busy it's reppin' time and he's not fukkin' reppin'.

Also people need to realize this was filmed during peak COVID, they couldn’t hang out or do anything together as a crew which I think regardless is going to affect a show like this. I’m still enjoying it but it’s clear Dave was going for a darker less comedic tone. But the last two episodes have been pretty funny, especially the Kareem episode.

I agree, but let's talk about the elephant in the room. And that's how Gata is literally stealing EVERY scene that he's involved with. He's clearly the breakout character on this show.

I see praise for GaTa after almost every episode, and thats dated back to the first season. He’s clearly a fan favorite at this point, and the writers know it too.
