Sometimes he gives legit viewpoints but the bottom line is that he's an entertainer that has an "aw shucks" Christian brand to maintain

Eh, working is for income. Skill development, training, education and overall experience help you move forward at work. Working "hard" is subjective. In the case of non-pandemic unemployment, I'd rather do gigs or temp work than go through the process of filling and maintaining benefits.

I hear you. Everyone is wired differently. I remember in college me and my boy who was in school with me were both working at subway. I worked for like a week and quit. While my boy continued to work there.

I quit because I got tired of running back and forth at the job and dealing with customers. I instead took odd labor jobs at the college employment office. Most the jobs were out in the hot ass 100 degree sun moving funiture or cutting grass. To me I rather do that cause the pay was better and I didn't have to deal with a bunch of pushy customers and knowing a menu from memory. Plus I could set my schedule.

Where as my boy liked the job at subway cause he could work in an air conditioned environment, get a free lunch, work with females and only had work 4 hours a shift.

Now none of us were wrong in what we choosed to do. We just picked what worked out for each of us. And I say the same here...you ask for someones advice. Listen to what they say and the end as an adult the decision is up to you.

I’ve read that filing for unemployment in southern states is a lot more difficult than doing it up north. Where I am, in Massachusetts, we have what’s considered the most advanced unemployment system in the nation. shyt takes a few seconds online, answering a handful of questions before your claim is processed. Some black people swear the south Is better for us, but shyt like this shows why it isn’t.

Yeah, MD is definitely antiquated in this regard. They had some contractor supposedly build a new system, but it's been a dud and caused a bunch of issues. When the stimulus was first being paid out, people put that they received income for the week and it ended up stopping their payments altogether :sadcam:. Then they have this online queue system and one woman said she was waiting 8 hours. It's been horrible. My friend has a childcare center and she applied to stay open because a lot of her parents work in the medical field. She was supposed to waive fees for the parents and the state pick up the tab, they haven't paid her yet. On top of that, they decreased her capacity to follow social distancing. She's basically been going 3 months providing free daycare with no income.

Because life isn't free, unfortunately, but income combined with training/education/experience is typically higher than without and if you're going to work, you may as yield the highest rate you can. And this is just my opinion for this situation, not really my overall "mindset". Just found your comment interesting.

Because life isn't free.

So when the cheque you receive in employment is more than you would get to collect a cheque sitting at home, why risk your health and waste time.

This is the point I am getting at. People forget that certain jobs are a means to survive. If you're able to get more money not working that job, there's no reason to waste your time. You are quite literally putting yourself in a more unfavourable position and robbing yourself of time that can be used to develop.

I think Ramsey is spot on about some things but off the mark on some others, like pretty much all financial talking heads. Find the advice you need at the stage of life you're in. Might be Ramsey when you're starting out, then Suzy Orman down the road etc.

But to the OP, I kind of agree with him on this one. We are about to go into a deep recession right now. I'd rather have a job that can meet my financial obligations than "cake" off a limited supply of UI.

And I think you're missing the mark with the fact Amazon and Pizza Hut ain't paying enough to cover medicine bills if you catch that shyt.

Again the cost outweight the benefits and this country is having to pay for trying to skim on EVERY employment benefit.

Amazon and Pizza Hut ain't offering you gas. Hell, Uber ends up costing it's drivers more than they make with all thing considered.

Too many people are making more in UI then they jobs they bust they asses for.

And they are supposed to "get off their lazy butts" for a "honest days' work" while being exploited by a fukking trillionaire they will still lay you off if it begins to cost them more than keeping you.

This ain't 1950.
A lot of nikkas SWEAR by Dave Ramsey though. And let's be real, if this was say, five months ago, you all would agree with him because I saw the exact same advice given here before. Y'all used to love promoting those sorry ass, exploitative gig economy jobs.

The rise & grind nikkas on here are the worst:mjlol:

they been awfully quiet the last few weeks.:russell:

1. And I think you're missing the mark with the fact Amazon and Pizza Hut ain't paying enough to cover medicine bills if you catch that shyt.

2. Too many people are making more in UI then they jobs they bust they asses for.

To point 1: I made a later post saying I'd advise people to work a job in the fullest capacity they reasonably can without getting sick/injured.

To point 2: That's poor systematic design. UI, at least in theory, is/was never meant to have you break more bread than your current role. In theory, it should be just enough to tide you over but not enough that you would stop looking for work. Again, in theory.

There's definitely an argument to be made about the low wages that allow people to earn more staying at home than trying to work. But that's an argument for another day.

Dave Ramsey only gives good advice on saving and paying debt but when it comes to investing and real estate he is trash. Also he came from money. When he had his little real estate business he was getting deals because he had connections with many firms because his parents had ties to those same firms. Secondly Dave is hella wrong here. Even the Federal Reserve says Main Street needs help. When the big companies need aid from the federal government it’s no problem. Bailouts to banks, airlines, cruise lines and other corporations is no problem. But when there is time to help the American people now it’s wrong.
Dave Ramsey is a right wing cac and probably can never relate to the average American. He came from privilege and is white at the end of the day. He will never what’s it like to be black etc. He doesn’t believe in govt aid to the people. So he is out of touch or reality.
